A communication process through visuals signals using rods, bare or gloved hands and flags has been known to be semaphore. It utilizes custom mini flags placed on short poles. This has been used for communication by distance like from this boat to another boat and this was first practiced in the 19th century and was utilized in the navy.

During the modernized flag semaphore, custom mini flags are used with white and blue or known as “Papa” and while sailing at the sea, it usually utilizes red and yellow or “Oscar”. The flag will be held by the other hand with arms extended in usually eight possible directions and will eventually spell out the various letters and numbers by the signalman.
