Rules on Ceiling Mounting – One of the most preferred methods when placing a banner from a high position or ceiling is with the aid of pole pockets. The pole pockets are described as openings sewn at the base and top of the banner seams, thereby letting a metal or PVC pole go through these. There is decorative rope and wire that can also be linked to the top of the pole and then positioned from the rafters. A pole will be slipped through the pole pocket and more weight is placed at the bottom to keep the banner expanded.

Rules on Flag Mounting to Poles – Pole pockets are effective too when mounting vertical banners to electric and light pole sides. These are referred to as Boulevard Banners and are usually found in many campuses and streets.

Rules for Across The Street Mounting – During parades and special events, you can hang large banners over the whole area. These are placed using guy wire string in which the material is put over and under the banner and then linked to both sides of the street. The banner is mounted using snap hooks that are slipped through the wires and grommets. Use rope to connect the corner grommets and then pull well to properly display the banner.

Rules for Storefront Windows – There are banners that are positioned from the inside of windows. Suction cups and hooks are used to keep the banners in place. The hooks are also put through the grommet holes while the cups are placed directly on the store’s glass window.

On Ceiling Mounting – One of the ideal ways to mount a banner from a high place or a ceiling of a big hall or gym is with the help of pole pockets. The pole pockets are describe as openings that are positioned into the base and top seams of the banner, thereby allowing a rigid metal or PVC pole to go through these. You can use decorative rope or wire to link the top pole and mount using the rafters.

About Flag Mounting to Poles – The pole pockets are also incorporated to mount vertical banners to the sides of electric and light poles. These are also known as Boulevard Banners and are usually effective as decorative pieces for schools and business establishments.

Across The Street Mounting – If you’re planning to put big banners for special events and parades, you can mount these over a whole street. The materials are placed using guy wire over and under the banner and linked to poles on every side of the road. There are also snap hooks that are slipped through the grommets and surrounding the wires to keep the banner mounted. You can use rope to link every corner grommet found on the banner to keep the material taught and hold the banner well.

For Storefront Windows – Banners made to properly suit between window frames in front of stores can also be placed from the inside of the glass with the aid of hooks and cups. The hooks are also placed through the grommet holes while the cups are placed on the store windows.

Below are tried and proven methods of mounting custom flags and banners properly. Look for the right technique that you like best.

Between Pole Mounting – If you are placing banners in between poles, you have to get some rope and webbing then add D-rings placed on the topmost part and base seams of the flag. Afterwards, connect the rope all around the poles. It could be via the big eye screws which can be fitted on the poles. The D-rings at the edge of the webbing can be linked with bungee cords and then placed around the poles or from the same big eye screws if these are available. Mounting with bungee cord is one of the tested and proven mounting approaches that let the banner sway with strong winds. If you mount banners in between poles with the help of a rope linked to a small  grommet holes along the corners, it may not prove to be very effective because the grommets would rip easily. The bungee cords may also be placed to corner holes and would also keep these from ripping.

Lawn Mounting – This can be useful for banners that are only meant to be affixed temporarily over grassy fields. You can try this basic approach that is quite the same as pole mounting. The steel T fenced posts may be acquired from hardware shops like Home Depot or Lowe’s. These can be positioned on the ground with the use of  post driver. Bungee cords, rope and sturdy plastic or PVC  wire ties may also be incorporated with grommets.

Fence Mounting – If you are mounting banners, do this on a chain link fence which is practical and convenient. Just use zip ties or plastic wire ties and put these around to cover the  links.

For many years, custom flags and banners have been used well by entrepreneurs, event planners and business owners. These are very effective modes of advertising. You should choose the right light pole banner brackets that will stay strong even in the presence of strong outdoor features. Banner brackets are easy to find and set up. These will also adjust depending on the strength of the wind. You can push almost anything with the help of banners like starting fundraising programs, festivals and special events.

When advertising for special events, the banner stands will be very useful because these can be transported from one venue to another. Even if you need to advertise in various places, the stand can stay up and grab more customers. Banner hardware will cater to your different mounting needs and protect the material too. Street pole banner hardware can be placed on surfaces and walls. These will guarantee that the banner does not rip or easily deteriorate.

Banner brackets only have a few colors to choose from so check the final output with the material itself. The banner and bracket should complement each other in your display.

Maintain the basis when starting with these approaches. If you’ve incorporated banners before, you should try customizing the material. Finials can also be customized. You need to spend more time thinking and preparing the custom flag to come up with a truly attractive design. You will discover how fun it is to explore your creative talents and include different colors and elements in the final layout.

If you got yourself a new custom flag to promote a special gathering or business, it’s helpful to know the ideal manner of displaying this. You need to hang the banner properly so that it stays visible and lasts for a long time. There are some places where these materials can be placed well. Find out more about the proper manners and approaches to mount or affix the items.

Flat Wall Mounting – Several banners already come with pre-installed grommets around so that these will be convenient to affix on solid surfaces like walls. Using Drywall will require you to add pins through the material or openings and then further put plastic wall anchors that have washers and screws. These will properly sustain the material against the surface. The washer also needs to be bigger compared to the opening. Using Block Wall or Brick Wall, try a tapcon masonry screw together with a washer to hold the banner firmly. A masonry bit and hammer drill will also come handy.

Using Sheet Metal Wall, apply a number of washers and sheet metal screws. Using Wood Wall, apply washers and wood walls. Using brands like EIFS, Dryvit, Synthetic Stucco Surfaces and Masterwall, you might realize that these are quite tricky to install from since the first few inches are made of polysterene foam. Some people prefer plastic EZ drywall anchors with big threads since the washer and screw will fix the material for a short period of time. The custom flag, once removed, will require you to caulk the holes.

If you’ve recently bought a brand new custom flag to showcase your business further or promote an event, you have to learn the various ways of presenting it. Putting a banner from above is not very challenging. There are many places where flags and banners are traditionally hung. You should familiarize yourself with these accordingly and determine the best approaches to mount or hang these.

About Flat Wall Mounting – A lot of banners are already made with the grommets installed surrounding the perimeter to make these very easy to fix against flat walls and surfaces. If you have drywall, you can push the pins through the grommet or openings and then incorporate washers and screws to fasten firmly onto the surface. The washer should also be a bit bigger compared to the opening of the grommet. If you’re using a block or brick wall, you should try using tapcon masonry screws and a washer to properly fix the banner. A hammer drill and masonry bit will be useful for the approach.

If you’re using sheet metal wall, try to incorporate sheet metal screws and washers. If you’re using wood wall, incorporate wood screws and washers. There are a number of brands that might make it more challenging to install banners from such as Dryvit, EIFS, Masterwall or Synthetic Stucco Surfaces. The initial 3/4 to 4 inches of the surface is generally made of polystyrene foam. When using EIFS surfaces, fill the hole and gaps with caulk as soon as the custom flag is taken out or removed.

If you’re planning a big gathering or event, it’s important to use effective marketing items like street pole banners or boulevard banners. It also helps to know the best approaches in presenting these items. One of the traditional manners is by using a rope for the presentation. The rope has to be tied on the two sides of the banner and the length on both sides also needs to be of the same length. The ends should also be tied to the brackets against a solid or strong surface.

In any instance wherein you cannot successfully put the banner over the sidewalk or street, you can put this in front of the building using the same approach. You can also incorporate washers and screws with the help of installed grommets. The installation approach will permanently display the banner and there might be holes needed to be placed on the structure.

About Street Pole Banners

Street pole banners need a frame that will be fixed on one part to a street pole. The frame has to surround the four sides of the material, so that it stays taut and attractive. When you fix the banner to the pole, the material should be held well and intact to prevent the banner from getting lost in harsh weather conditions. The street pole banners are usually placed at the side of the road to keep people from hitting these. The clearance at the base and bottom should be reviewed so that vehicles and people do not remove it .

When the boulevard banner or street pole banner is finalized and made, you have to select the best place to put it from. Using the right kind of banner will need approval from the proper government agencies to make sure that you are abiding by their rules and regulations. Business establishments have to follow the proper rules when putting these. Every banner will have its own manner of installation and presentation as needed. Read further to know more how these materials will properly your new banner as well as the best place to display it.

More on Boulevard Banners

Hanging from above, the specific banner is placed from a high place. This will look attractive when placed over the booth, store or shop. If you use a boulevard banner to let others know about a special event or meeting, you can try putting more than one. Make sure you display a banner at the entrance and then another at the exit. You should choose the right rope and brackets that are highly durable and of the right length. The installation will require high quality materials so that the banners do not fall over time. Marine grade cord found at your local hardware shop or the internet will suffice.

The rope also has to be well-threaded using the installed grommets on the boulevard banner. The rope should be of the same length on both sides. Before you hang, get more cord and apportion these as needed to complete the final look. This will make a great presentation.

Based on stories from expert historians, a man originating from Massachusetts named Captain William Driver was the first to call the American Flag the Old Glory. He would stay at Nashville, Tennessee when he arrived from his many journeys, particularly in 1837. He loved the Old Glory so much that he would display it in many places such as on his ship and in many places that he would visit. A lot of people would see and admire the flag. The original one featured 34 stars which featured the 34 existing states at the time belonging to the Union in 1861.

The Civil War started in 1861 and Tennessee quickly was claimed by the enemies of the Union. Captain William Driver at the time was worried that the opposing forces would find the flag and destroy the Old Glory. He thought of a way to save the flag by talking to some local women and then sewing the Old Glory into a pillow.

After a year, the Union reclaimed Nashville and Driver set out to raise the Old Glory on top of the State Capitol Spire. During that period, the 6th Ohio Regiment which was also part of the Federal troops, appreciated the Old Glory and included it in their motto.

These are only a few of the many colorful events during the Civil War that showed how Captain Driver and several other Americans helped save the Old Glory. The US flag or Old Glory is a national asset today.

A lot of Americans do not truly know where the name The Old Glory came from. The American flag was nicknamed Old Glory by an American sea commander named William Driver during the 19th century. He gave the flag he particularly used Old Glory, which is the very same term used by Americans throughout the United States for the banner. The original flag Driver used is a very popular artifact today.

The Old Glory was personally made by William Driver’s mother together with a few other ladies from Massachusetts. His mother gave him the flag to be used on his ship during the 1820s. The flag was quite big, measuring about 10 x 17 square feet. It also incorporated heavy duty material to ensure that it stays strong despite the harsh external conditions that the ship had to bear through its journeys.

The flag also displayed 24 stars which was among the most common styles displayed during that period. The stars were representative of the nautical background. There was also a small anchor included on the blue portion at the corner.

The captain was very eager to receive and display The Old Glory on his ship. He immediately gave the banner its new nickname as he explored the world in 1831 using his ship called Charles Doggett.

The Old Glory was the official banner of Charles Doggett throughout the trip. If you look at the flag today, you will notice patches and repairs made on the edges of the US flag. These prove that the flag is the same one used by Captain Driver.

A lot of people are not actually aware of the fact that the old name given to the American flag is “Old Glory”. William Driver can be credited as being the first to use the popular tag. Driver was a sea captain in the 19th century and his very own flag is now one of the most prized pieces of the history of the United States. The captain was particularly fond of calling his flag Old Glory and the term stuck with others.

The Old Glory was made by William Driver himself, his mother and other women from his hometown in Massachusetts. His mother gave him the flag sometime after 1820. The flag was big, measuring about 10 x 17 square feet and was created from tough and heavy material to make sure that it lasts long after being positioned on the mast of Driver’s ship.

The original flag also featured 24 stars which is typical of the nautical environment. There was also a small anchor included in one corner of the blue section of the flag.

William Driver was very happy to accept the gift from his mother and constantly displayed the banner. He gave the name The Old Glory to the flag as he left the harbor in 1831 to go around the world as captain of the ship named Charles Doggett.

Throughout the trip, the official flag of Driver’s ship was the same one given by his mother. The ends of the US flag somewhat deteriorated due to the harsh winds and weather. The original flag today has patches on it.

The main use of nautical flags is basically the same regardless of the times. One of the general uses of the flags is to guarantee the security of the boat as well as the people running it as it properly sends messages and other signs to other vessels and persons on and off shore.

The ICS flag system is considered a standard and most vessels coming from different countries all over the globe are expected to know how to use it. NATO vessels also make use of the ICS flags in many occasions. More of the applications are generally used by the military and the public usually does not truly understand its effects. If you look at other boating and water vessel activities, various flags are used aside from the ICS system. For many years, the ICS flag system has been incorporated to improve the way boats and ships communicate with each other as well as send messages to others inland.

As a whole, there are four unique types of flags. Single flags can present one message, letter or number. It can also show a repetition of a flag that has already been displayed thereby removing the possibility of several similar flags being displayed at the same time on a ship. Letter flags can also be used to form terms. Two or more combinations of a nautical flag can be used to make messages as defined by the ICS or International Code of Signals. The code was previously published in 1969 with some changes in 2003.

The world is actually comprised of 3/4 water and only 1/4 land. Every single day, ships, yachts, boats, cruise ships, leisure vessels and other types of water crafts travel across the ocean for a variety of purposes. Some of these vessels explore and navigate, others are intended to carry and deliver products and there are those that usher passengers from one country or city to the next. There are also many smaller vessels that carry people who merely wish to enjoy the sight of the sea, the sun and surrounding islands. Frequently, ships will cross each other without communicating at all.

The modes of communication between ships and water vessels vary. In some cases, it is highly needed for boats to have advanced forms of communication devices especially when trying to transmit important signals and messages. There could possibly be no existing problem if only every person in the world spoke the same language and satellite and radio systems were efficient all the time. This is not, however, he case, so people have to think of more reliable methods that will continue to work regardless of the day and circumstances. When it comes to reliability, nautical flags are still at the top of every seaman’s list.

Nautical flags have proven to be very useful and reliable when transmitting signals and messages to other water vessels and even stations and people located inland. The ICS or International Code of Signals is one of the best ways to communicate on board even today.

Today, it is quite convenient to get custom flags and requesting the flag manufacturer to incorporate the design you’re personally styled or include some art by simply forwarding through email or a portable flash disk storage. The custom flag manufacturer can quickly enhance or reduce the size of the photo. Vector images and other elements of the photo will be calculated and made so that the lines and edges maintain their sharpness. Colors and tones are also enhanced and presented in the best manner.

Whenever the flag manufacturer adjusts the photo to suit the custom flag, it will not change the result of the photo which means that the result will still be beautiful and accurate. The pixels will maintain its sharpness and detail.

One example of a subject that is vector-based is TEXT.
It is also important to note that forwarding images or art that is vector-based will change the lines to curves including text in the artwork. This is because several screen printers do not offer as many fonts as what may be available on computers.

Some of the well-known vector formats are as follows:
AI or Adobe Illustrator, CMX or Corel Exchange or CDR or Corel DRAW
Other frequently used vector programs include
Adobe Illustrator and Corel DRAW

Final Tips:
The vector photo is not required to come in its actual size when you forward it. The file will ultimately be smaller and can also be forwarded using your email. It is ideal to work with the flag manufacturer so that all your thoughts can be included in the final design.

The American flag has been used several times in the past and even in the present in terms of advertising as well as spreading the principle of nationalism.

The United States Code indicates the rules and regulations on how the flag should be treated, particularly Title 4, Section 8-d, 8-i and 8-g. The rules say that it is a violation to desecrate the flag and tear or burn it. The flag should not be used in marketing.

About the Implied Pledge

Any national banner represents that history and future of a given group or nation. It says much about the past and heroes who fought bravely for it to wave freely. However, there are individuals who do not truly understand the true nature of the flag.

Any some cases, the flag may only be another piece of cloth for others. They may not be pledging to the flag or nation itself but to money, which corrupts the very essence.

I pledge allegiance to the power of money
Of the United States of America
And to the power that the dollar can grant.
The stock exchange and others surrounding it are constantly hungry.
They are greedy and wish for more.
May the banner always fly freely!

Since the attacks on September 11, the American flag and its colors have been placed on different objects, cars, buildings and homes. People should admire the flag and its significance more. They should be careful never to forget the things that it stands for such as justice, courage and freedom.

The American flag should constantly be put up and properly supported so that it flies free in the same manner that the nation is also always free. With some wind, the flag can fly in different ways. A lot of wind can make the flag flutter and whip violently along the foundation or pole. After some time, the flag may already become torn and tattered. You might even notice some flags only hanging on by a few threads. The position of the flag is important so it is ideal that it flies attached to the main foundation.

Whenever the wind blows, the flag’s elements can properly be viewed. You can see the stars as well as the red and white stripes. The winds moving along the flag also signifies many things such as the constant changes and adjustments of the banner and the country so that it always evolves as a leading nation and not succumb to suffering and apathy.

More Meaningful Representations

The flag does not come in only black and white. The associated concerns surrounding the flag are also very important to consider. There are actually more red stripes compared to white which can mean that there was more pain and blood in the past compared to purity and serenity when America was being formed.

An amendment indicates how people should never desecrate the flag. Desecration means more than mere destruction or burning of the flag. The American flag is also sold in various forms and kinds. You might find sheets, shirts, jewelry and notebooks featuring the design.

The American flag has to be constantly displayed in the right manner and flying in the wind. This symbolizes just how free and independent the United States is. Soft wind can immediately lead the flag to fly properly. Very strong gusts can also make the flag throw around on its base. In some cases, the flag may be tattered and torn and only a few strands may only be left from the original set up.

The flag will continue to fly and wave as long as the wind is moving through it. The stars and stripes can be visible from different areas. This is also very symbolic of all the struggles and challenges that the country went through and the factors that shaped it as a nation to move on and become a powerful force at present.

Not a Very Simple Look

The American flag does not appear in white and black. The matters surrounding it also have their own gray areas. You will find that there are more red stripes than white stripes. These symbolize the fact that the country has gone through a lot of pain, suffering and bloodshed compared to innocence and truth.

There is an amendment namely “H.J. Res. 10” which orders the public to refrain from desecrating the flag. Desecration has a lot of meaning such as shredding, tearing or burning the flag should citizens wish their sentiments to be acknowledged. The American flag has also been included in several objects and materials such as towels, tablecloths, t-shirts, notebooks, jewelry and many more.

A lot of people still do not know the right process when forwarding custom flags for printing. Many do not realize that the type of image and program they use will cause changes to the final printed design. There are a few guidelines to follow to guarantee that the end result will be of good quality and the design stays accurate and sharp.

Tips When Sending Bitmap Images

Bitmap images or raster images are comprised of pixels in a grid. The pixels are the small dots that have individual colors. The images are dependent on the resolution so the number of pixels will result to the design and variety of colors. These are also called dots per inch or DPI.

Bitmap images that are to scale and with a dpi of 300+ can be printed. The resolution should be kept high to preserve the quality and sharpness of the design. Otherwise, adjusting or re-sizing the image will only lead to blots and blurs. These can be seen on the custom flag.

Regular bitmap formats
JPEG, BMP, JPG, PSD (Adobe Photoshop), PNG, GIF and TIFF

Regular bitmap programs
Adobe Photoshop, Corel Photo-Paint, Microsoft Paint, U lead Photo Impact and Jasc Paint Shop Pro

Quick tips:
Always keep the image in 300+ dpi and to scale to maintain the good quality. Vector images are recommended for printing and these are generally made using a screen printer. The vector-based pictures do not rely on resolution so re-sizing can be done without changing the appearance and quality of the final printed image.

The Continental Congress members most likely have already thought of preparing the necessary materials that will symbolize independence. After signing the Declaration of Independence, the forefathers seemingly started the project of having an official national banner to identify the nation from other countries.

Betsy Ross is given recognition for having sewn the very first flag in May 1776. This is the American flag we know today although the first layout has undergone some adjustments. As more states were added to the list, more stars also had to be added to the flag. The final design is the one you see now in front of homes, schools and buildings.

Significance of the Symbols

The flag represents a lot of personalities and virtues. The red stripes stand for bloodshed and courage. The white stripes stand for innocence and purity. The stripes on the banner stand for the many lessons learned and goals set and met. The flag has survived all these years and has been a witness to the formation of the great nation of America.

The stars can also mean lofty goals and how people set their sights high. Stars are eternal and forever in the heavens just as how the flag depicts the stars against the blue background. The blue color stands for spirituality and harmony in the same way that people aim for eternal peace and tranquility.

The American flag is quite similar to the United States. Since the country is made up of different races, beliefs and spiritual principles, it is well-depicted by the banner which is also made up of many threads.

It would be safe to assume that the members of the Continental Congress have long been contemplating about having their own American flag as they signed the Declaration of Independence. A flag is always a vital part of any independent nation because it stands for a variety of historical and meaningful events, people, things and places.

According to historical records, Betsy Ross made the very first version of the flag raised in different parts of the country. The first flag was sewn by Ross in May 1776 which became the official American flag. The original design also went through a lot of changes because more states were introduced.

The Meaning of the Symbols

The layout of the US banner is very special and holds a lot of meaning. The red stripes on the flag stand for blood, the fight for freedom and bravery. The white stripes are representative of purity, truth and being prepared for change. The stripes are indicative of the values, principles and standards that the forefathers intended to maintain. The flag signifies how the country has matured to become a great nation.

The stars that appear on the flag are indicative of objectives and the future. The stars stand for eternity and how people always set high goals. The blue color represents tranquility and serenity. In due time, the people of America will also experience ultimate peace and prosperity.

The American flag is very similar to the United States. It is created using several threads in the same manner that the United States is also composed of different people, principles and religions.

Screen printing is one of the cheapest ways of making copies of textile images for banners, advertising materials and custom flags regardless of the occasion, place, event and situation. Several agencies, organizations and groups use these for various reasons and for international and local happenings.

Nylon is the most usual material used for screen printing although flag makers also like to use other fabrics like canvas, wool, cotton and silk.

Some people are asking if custom flags are better off using screen printing techniques or digital printing methods. The printing approach will rely much on the project and objectives.

If you’re going to screen by hand using a flat bed top, the process will involve the use of steam from inside the flat bed. The temperature should stay high so that screening will let the dye dry fast. Other colors can also be screened accordingly.

Using a machine for printing will automate and hasten the process so you can make more materials and flags in a shorter span of time. The colors are printed in just 10 to 20 seconds and the oven will dry the colors.

You have to be familiar with the three types of machines used in the process:

High temperature machines will apply the color.

A washing machine will remove the dirty dye found on the surface of the material so that what you get are only the clean tones.

Finally, the fixture machine will lead to a square fabric since the washing machine tends to adjust the form of the material.

All of these are important to create a beautiful custom flag.

A few methods are available when making custom flags. The screen printing approach is currently one of the most popular because it is easy and quick. The process can be done by hand, digital imaging or machine.

Custom flags are usually printed using the approach together with woven polyester, nylon, knitted polyester and other materials that are generally used in making flags.

In the first step, the design is laid out on the computer for the filming machine. If the maker intends to use two colors, he should also use two films created from the filming machine. One color will need one film. The film is also treated with light to create the printing plate. If two colors in the custom flag layout will be used, two plates will also be necessary. The approach is similar to the old manner of making photos by treating the negatives in a dark space. A halftone is another name for the printing plate.

The colors will need CMYK powder. These are mixed together using a machine. To make the formula, you need to use 60%K, 30%C, 20%M and 40%Y as well as cataplasm. As soon as the colors are evenly mixed, these are ready for treatment.

The flag fabric will be put on a flat bed or on a long flat bed top depending on the size and amount. The treatment and application of the colors will be done by hand. Application is also done separately.

The plate is finally screened and the color dye placed properly through the plate’s open spaces and the custom flag material.
