Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

Thursday, November 1, 2012

The POW Flag or MIA flag is an American symbol that marks and remembers the people who offered their lives for the independence of the United States. These individuals were tagged as either MIA or missing in action or POW's or prisoners of war.

The soldiers who were sent to Southeast Asia are remembered every time the banner is raised. The United States makes it a point that these special individuals are recognized even though they might never have returned home.

The state flag can be featured on its own on a second flagpole. When facing the flag poles and structure, the proper way of raising the flag should be observed.

Half Employee days require the flag to be lowered together with the Nationwide Colors. These special days include Peace Officers Memorial Day, Pearl Harbor Memorial Day, Memorial Day, Patriot Day and other special occasions mentioned by the US President. Remember the dates of each of these half employee days to raise the flag properly.

The POW Flag or MIA Flag Recognition Day will require the not to be reduced to half every 3rd Friday of September. It has to be featured in full mast at the same time as the American flag. Some of the places where the flag will be featured include the White House and Capitol in Washington DC, all National Cemeteries, offices of the Secretary of State, offices of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs,  all public offices, all VA Medical Middle setups and all major navy points.
