If you’ve come across the famous mini-series by John Adams on HBO, you will find several beautiful American flags that were raised during the Revolutionary War.

These banners were the very first ones used to represent the United States of America and several were also used by troops during the war. In the opening scenes, you will notice Culpepper flag. The flag stood for a group of men numbering only about one hundred who came all the way from Culpepper, Virginia. The troops were included in the First Virginia Regiment of Colonel Patrick Henry in 1775. Colonel Stevens also commandeered about three hundred minutemen from October to November 1775 starting from Culpepper Court House to Williamsburg.

Many people feared these men as they moved throughout the United States. Their clothes bore the bold words “Liberty” or “Death” which were printed in white. Their hats also featured bucks’ tails and there were scalping knives and tomahawks around their waists.

The Grand Union flag is another famous banner used during that particular period. Although this was not adopted officially by the Continental Congress, it is still widely noted as the very first banner of the United States of America. The American flag is a change from the traditional British Meteor flag. The white cross of St. Andrew as well and the red cross of St. George were on the blue canton.

In the opening scenes of the mini-series, you would also find the Washington Cruisers flag. This was particularly used by George Washington for his squadron.

When you play golf, you have to start from the tee and aim for the hole. The player who successfully shoots the ball with the fewest strokes wins. Putting is an important aspect of the game. You will find many putting green flags and golf flags set up in different parts of the golf course to indicate where players should be aiming for.

Putting involves bringing the ball slowly into the hole using mild strokes. The ball in this case will not leave the ground compared to the long drive wherein players aim to get as close to the hole as possible from a distance. Putting is done when the ball is close to the hole or on the green.

A custom putting green flag will be placed in the cup so that golfers can find the final point from a long distance. The position of the cup will vary among golf courses. The quality and slope of the putting green will change depending on the course. Some greens are categorized as fast with very short-cut grass and smoother surfaces. Others will require more roll if you wish to bring the ball into the cup successfully. The blades of grass and slope of the green will matter much in the game.

The putter is the unique club used for putting. It is distinct from the irons and woods that are used for long drives because it features a flat face and is made to roll the ball on the ground instead of off it. Individuals should assess the different clubs and find the right putter according to their particular style and technique.

You can drop 5 or 6 balls from a distance of 4 to 5 feet. The goal is to get a straight putt as well as some uphill. Look for the putting green flag and aim to put the ball into the cup. You should make as many shots as possible. Focus on three main things when trying to improve your golfing skills. These include the setup, the swing and the follow through. You should concentrate on the shot and eliminate all other distractions.

Once you discover that you are becoming better in these aspects, you should try to learn other aspects of the game. You should take a lot of time mastering one move first before moving on to the next. Keep on working on the initial shots discussed above until you can hit about fifty. When you are getting better with shots from a distance of 5 feet, increase the distance as necessary. You should always aim for the hole when making shots regardless of the distance. Change the distance from time to time to become versatile in different shots. The golf flag will show you where you need to aim for.

If you’re going to play a round, count how many putts you make in each. Determine the putts, length of the golf putts and up and downs. You should continue with the strategy and approach until you notice that the number of putts needed to complete the hole reduces. You will notice the numbers improve if you work on the 5-foot shots. You might even learn how to make great and successful shots from 15 to 20 feet away.

If you wish to be fully appreciated on the golf course, you have to understand some of the basic rules and guidelines that will present you as a respectable and good-mannered golfer.

1. When standing near the hole, you have to take out the flag over the cup before putting.

2. If other players are trying to locate the hole, do not remove the putting green flag. This is very important for other golfers to get in the right position. Wait until all players are on the putting green before removing the flag.

3. According to golf etiquette guidelines, it is proper to tend the hold if other players are putting. You can stand close to the putting green flag and then take it out after the player has struck the ball and the ball is moving closer to the hole. Make sure that you or your shadow does not get in the way of the ball or shot.

4. Always dress well when playing golf. Collared shirts are recommended whether you’re on the course or in the club.

5. Take care of divots that you see on the grass, whether these are yours or another player’s. Some golf players tend to forget to cover these. Cover the spot with sand or dirt for grass to re-grow.

All these basic rules and guidelines will make you a good companion in any game of golf. Browse through the official rule book to know other good manners and tips for great play.

Golf is widely known for being a game for gentlemen because of the way players dress and their behavior on the golf course. When you play golf, you should also be aware of these basic rules on manners for the benefit of others. You also have to familiarize yourself with the various features of the golf course such as putting green flags, golf flags, slopes, strokes and other instruments for playing. You have to be mindful of other players to be fully appreciated in every game. You should think about the safety of other people as well and aim to make yourself a helpful and fun part of the game. Once you start practicing these, you will discover that more golf players are willing to play.

Avoid making unnecessary noises or jerky movements as the other player is planning or making a shot. Give them enough time to think about their stroke and stay at a good distance for them to concentrate.

Let the low-scoring player tee off first in the next hole.

While on the putting green, avoid stepping in the line of shot of other golfers. Walk carefully so as not to move the ball of others that might be in the same area. Watch out for putting green flags to serve as your guide.

Wait for your turn to take the shot. Regardless of the positions of other players, the one farthest away from the hole is usually allowed to take the initial shot.

Avoid slow play as much as possible but strategize your shots well for a great score.

The golf course will involve different characteristics and features that need to be mastered by the starting golf player. You have to understand and identify the various elements such as the tee box, the rough, the golf fairway, the sand bunkers, the green side and other hazard zones. Most importantly, you have to know how to find the putting green with the aid of putting green flags. This is where the final flag is found positioned directly in the cup. All golfers will aim to hit the ball into the final cup.

This article refers to the characteristics of the putting green.

The putting green has clean cut grass all around the cup or hole. The 18-hole golf course will also have 18 putting greens where the golfer will attempt to place the ball into the cup before qualifying for the next round or hole. Putting green flags are essential in directing the golfer to the cup.

The putting green speed and slope can change drastically depending on the layout of the course. Some golf courses are easy and require only straight or fast putting. Others will require more strategy and technique because of the surface.

The putting green slope will determine how the golf ball should be positioned and rolled towards the hole. There are times when the ball will start to roll to the left and then move towards the right after the strike. In this case, the ball breaks “left to right” and vice-versa. On challenging courses and putting greens, the ball will break unpredictably on the putting green.

Many people can still remember the arguments between the Liberal Party’s leader Lester B. Pearson and the Conservative Party’s head John Diefenbaker. Their struggle to gain control over the nation resulted to a wide array of debates even affecting the very people ofCanada. In 1964, they contested the need for a new Canadian flag. This event was referred to as the Great Flag Debate. The result is the red and white flag you see today.

During the Confederation period in 1867, the debate began. Canada, as a new nation, was still learning the steps since it had just acquired independence from the British monarchy. The new dominion of Canada featured the Union Jack of the British Empire as its Canadian word flag until people started talking about the need to change it. People decided that the new country also needed a new flag.

One of the elements that people expected to include in the new flag was the beaver. The animal was frequently featured in several national items and materials. It was also present on the coat of arms and stood for many things Canadian.

The beaver is revered by Canadians as a very hardworking, earnest, family-loving and community-building animal. Many people also wished to have the same characteristics as the industrious creature.

Although there were already talks of including the creature in the new flag, there were people who felt that the new banner needed a stronger image. Thus, the present Canada flag with the red maple leaf was born. This is described by many as a more attractive and glamorous piece for the country.

The Red Ensign was widely used as the official flag of Canada until the 1960s. During that period, the government stipulated that they needed to upgrade the design of the Canadian flag. The current design that you see is the result of the change that was requested when the centennial celebration of the country was approaching at that time. O Canada was also made the national anthem.

Similar with other flag issues, there were people who did not approve of the change. Some were still loyal to the British Crown. They were called the United Empire Loyalists and were very strict and clear about their statements of retaining the Union Jack flag.

Many new flag designs were also suggested. There were designs that included one to three red maple leaves against the white background. The maple leaf and red and white colors became common elements of the Canadian flag. King George of the United Kingdom actually ordered red and white to be the national tones of the country in 1921. For several decades athletes representing Canada in the Olympics featured red leaf and white background.

There were several other designs featured such as the color blue, said to stand for the Atlantic and Pacific coasts which bordered the country. Lester B. Pearson, the Prime Minister at the time opted for these colors. Finally, the flag design still retained the original red and white. This design is the same one today.

Dr. George Stanley is credited for designing the current Canadian flag today. On February 15, 1965, the design was officially made Canada’s world flag.

Independence Day is fast approaching so I have come up with several great and attractive ideas to boost the celebration for the entire family. Every year, I always make it a habit to get in touch with my friends for a big part celebrated with a spectacular backdrop at my Vermont farmhouse. It is always more fun with everyone around. We spend the whole day chatting, grilling, drinking, playing games and enjoying each other’s company. The Fourth of July is one of my most favorite occasions.

If you’re also planning to make your own grand celebration this coming Independence Day, here are some tried and proven tips to make it extra special.

About Invitation

I make the invitations first so that people can already save up for the big day and attendance will be complete. To make a beautiful invitation, make several U.S. flags using a computer program then print these accordingly. Stick the printed flags on a thin stick then place a couple of holes on the invitation to slip the stick through. You can give these attractive invitations yourself so you can see the delight and surprise on their faces.

About Decoration

Always remember the classic American party wherein chairs, tables and other items at the party are colored blue, red and white. Place a huge drape over the umbrella poles to feature the U.S. flag. You can even paint the plants and other fixtures in the garden with the national colors to truly bring forth Independence Day.

I have always been proud and confident to be part of such a great country like the United States of America. If you come to our home, you will always see a giant custom flag raised on top of a tall pole during Independence Day as well as in other special days of the year. Whenever it is time to show love and patriotism, we never miss the opportunity. Even our cars feature tiny custom flag stickers that spread the love and support for our amazing nation. This way, other people will understand how lucky they are to be citizens of the United States. We also put small stickers featuring the American flag on our front door, windows and other places. These were very useful especially after September 11, 2001.

Custom Flags Can Stand for Different Things

Every Fourth of July, we show our love and respect for our country. Even on ordinary days, we continue to showcase the custom flag featuring the blue, red and white in different locations like the front of our home, shop or business. This is a great way to provide support and let others know that it is very meaningful to be a patriotic and peace-loving citizen. The approach does not have to be very attractive. You can think of other minor ways to represent freedom and independence.

Before you start thinking it strange that I put a custom flag constantly, think about how people relied on each other during the traumatic September 11 attacks. Since the Second World War, people all over the United States have actually been supporting each other.

For several centuries, world flags have been commonly displayed to let others know about specific locations and territories. Every governor of a new territory would display the flag in different countries especially during the British colonization period. Places like Australia, India, Canada, New Zealand and the Caribbean Islands would have these accordingly. After the British Commonwealth nations were freed from the British Empire, new flags for each of these territories were shown, although some still bear the symbols of the original flag. One example is the Australian National flag which shows the influence of the British in the current style of the government flag.

The military flags were also used on the battlefield to let commanders know about the positions of the different army divisions. Military flags are usually indicative of the military unit. Many soldiers gain strength, courage and confidence just by seeing their official flags raised on the battlefield.

Flags are also used to identify groups that move toward a general objective. Every unique group has its own government flag even though they might be helping each other towards a common goal. Some examples include the Department of Agriculture, the Justice Department and the Labor Department that work together in the federal government.

After the September 11, 2001 crisis, the United States experienced a sudden rise in the number of American flags presented all over the country. It was a strong message to other nations that such attacks would not weaken them but only ignite the spirit of patriotism in each citizen.

I have seen both small and large flags and flag poles all over the country. Different types of flags were featured and shown including military flags. At present, military flags are available in a wide array of styles and colors, each representing the different groups and divisions. There are different subdivisions within the army that stands for the fields of expertise such as the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Every branch has its own distinct flag. The Department of the Army features the blue replica of the official emblem with a scarlet scroll underneath. The words “United States Army” can be seen as well as the year “1775” under it. The characters also had a good contrast color against the solid background to make these more visible. These easily let people know the exact year when the army was created under the guidance of General Washington, who was its first commander-in-chief.

State banners are accepted and adopted by the different States, while presidents adopt the military banners. The different military flags were adopted mostly during the 1950s. the Army banner was adopted in 1956, the Air Force banner in 1951 and the redesigned Marine Corps banner in 1954.

The military is always considered an integral part of the nation. The founders of the United States were always keen on creating the right force that would defend the country. It was at the end of the Second World War that the army was official grouped and accepted. It is still one of the most prestigious groups in the world.

American flags are sold in different measurements and styles. There are small national flags that are often displayed by viewers during parades and processions. It is a very effective way of getting a lot at a very cheap price. The bigger types are also good as giveaway gifts. Have more people realize the benefits of choosing your business over others by using the right strategies and techniques. Putting up a sale or big promo will always be a good way to grab attention. You can use simple but effective items like a street banner or customized flag to spread the news. You can also invest a little by advertising in the local newspaper. Feel free to experiment with other marketing tools and options like internet sites, writing a press release, writing an article or blog or even sending mail to clients.

Signs are always useful regardless of the size of your business. The idea is to have the proper visual appeal that will bring more customers into your store. Street banners are always a good way to decorate the place together with window decors and custom flags.

Customers do not really like receiving random or spam mail from companies or business. However, if you include coupons in the letters, you can expect to have more sales and happy customers.

You can also try to change a few things in your store. Arrange the display shelves and other fixtures to improve the flow. Think of ways to spruce up the outside of the shop and brainstorm the most attractive designs for the front door or window. You can get an artist or have someone you know with artistic skills put more vibrant colors on the outside. Feel free to use Christmas items.

These are all the things you need for brisk sales.

Every entrepreneur understands the demands that come with running a business especially when the market is down. If you happen to have your own shop, you will notice how sales have dropped in the recent months. You can still do some things about it to boost sales again. Here are some tips on how to properly use marketing equipment like street banners for fast and quick growth.

1. Start a sale. You might not be excited about having to drop the prices of your products. However, selling items at a fairly low price will let you enjoy small but several profits. This is much better compared to garnering zero sales. Especially when the holiday season is fast approaching, many potential buyers will like the idea of shopping now to save more money. Choose a number of products that are quite sellable or items that might be in demand but seem to be too expensive for others. Use a custom flag to let them know about the sale.

2. Market the products. Start advertising with the help of street banners. You can also feature the available products on the internet. It is one of the biggest improvements you can make to boost sales. You have to keep the potential customers informed by starting an internet campaign. You can choose from different social networking sites that will effectively push your products. These include features and tools that will showcase your special offer. Invite friends and colleagues so they can help spread the news.

If you wish to put up a birthday party that will truly be worth remembering several years later, you have to understand the importance of personalization. Providing the needed personal touches, as well as using party accessories properly like a customized birthday flag, is the key to a great setup. You have to know the particular interests of the celebrant and also incorporate other catchy elements like funny quotes.

Using Custom Banners in Full Color

One of the best main items you will find at a birthday party is a giant custom banner that greets the celebrant a happy birthday. You can also set up a basic banner from a high place or use other things like streamers, flags and pennants. Be sure to add some personalized effects such as putting the name of the person on the banner. Use colors and choose the right theme that will fully be appreciated by the person.

Preparing the Lawn

Getting ready for an outdoor party will require you to make the needed preparations for an elaborate lawn presentation. Use themed cutouts and a huge birthday flag. You can also use other items like a standup sign that features a wise or funny slogan. You can also include other attractive cutouts such as animal cutouts or cutouts of the person celebrating his birthday.

The Collage Sign

Also think of preparing a birthday collage sign, featuring great pictures, cutouts and old photos. Greet the person by putting the words in the middle of the collage.

Try to imagine how a giant flagpole would look if set up at your own residence. The huge flag might seem normal if placed in other places like a car dealership but you will realize that the installation will easily dwarf your home should you continue with the plan. The size of the home will help determine the right flag size and pole. Experts recommend the following guidelines: a single-story home will do well with a 16 to 20-foot pole. Tall single-story houses or two-storey houses can have a 20 to 35-foot pole. Tall two-storey houses will ideally have a 25 to 30-foot pole.

______ I have a single-story house and have to install a flagpole 16 to 20 feet tall.
______ I have a tall single-story house or a story and a half home and have to install a flagpole 20 to 25 feet tall.
______ I have a two-story house and need to install a flagpole 25 to 30 feet tall.

Ease of Installation. If you decide to proceed with the flagpole installation, you should get all the details correctly. You might also consider hiring a professional to do all of the work for you. You might be able to save extra by doing the project on your own, but there are big risks if you’ve never done it before. Sectional and telescoping flagpoles are placed in a ground sleeve set in concrete. This goes further down the frost line depending on your location. Some people find that going for a wall-mounted flagpole is easier than the standing version.
