What happens when you hear the word Nova Scotia? Some people are familiar with it and say it's a province of Canada, while some say that they didn't even know that place existed till I mentioned it.

Well, Nova Scotia is a Latin for New Scotland and the second smallest province of the country. It has a nice moderate climate w/c is pretty rare since it is located above the United States. It's still pretty cold though reaching -11 Celsius during winter, and warmer during summer at about 20-25 Celsius, good atmosphere for outdoor activities.

Considering that they have stunning scenery because you are never more than 2 hours from the coast. From whale watching to surfing, or if you just want to have breakfast on top of a hill overlooking the ocean, Nova Scotia is the place to be. By the way, you could also rent a kayak and paddle along the towering cliffs for a breath taking view.

If you want to go down a more historic approach of the province, Pier 21 is the place to be. Considered one of Canada's Seven Wonders, it is a major tourist destination.

Rich with history, this place has been compared to New York's Ellis Island. It has been the "front door" to a million refugees, wartime troops, evacuees, and war brides.

You could also try the John Cabot landing site, a monument to the first European that ever set foot on the province on 1497.

From the point of view of a tourist, scenery and history are just two angles of an adventure. The third angle would be the food. Who doesn't love good food? Nova Scotia used to have fishing as one of its major industries. Fresh food abound the place. From sea side markets where you pick your own lobster and choose the way you want it cooked. To the more elegant fine dining restaurants, Nova Scotia has it all.

As I looked up pictures of Nova Scotia, I was amazed at how the place looked beautiful. And I came over a picture of a couple dining on top of a hill while looking at whales break the surface. Absolutely stunning. No other word for it.

The Green Isle and land of the leprechaun, that's what non-Irish people first think of when they hear Ireland. Ireland, the country is the state that occupies much of the southern part of the island of Ireland. The constituent country is Northern Ireland which is port of the United Kingdom. The flag of Ireland that represents the country is a tricolor of green, white, and orange.

A catholic nation, Ireland is most famous for its patron saint, St. Patrick. St. Patrick was known to have banished all serpents out of the island and until now, there are no snakes in Ireland. The Irish people and other citizens of the world who are of Irish descent celebrate the feast of St. Patrick with much merriment. But as they say everyone is an Irish every March 17, St. Patrick's Day. People wear green as green being St. Patrick's color and pin shamrocks on themselves. During this day, the Chicago river is even dyed green, and Boston, New York, and Philadelphia have their parades which dates back to the 1700s.

Ireland is synonymous to St. Patrick as it is to the Irish Flag. It has an illustrious history, paired with it's struggle for selfhood from the more powerful neighbor, the United Kingdom. Ireland has also produced a lot of important people from the Irish king Brian Boru, to literary luminaries such as playwrights George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde, to men of science like Robert Boyle of the famed Boyle's law, to music like Enya, and to Hollywood, who can forget James Bond alumni, Pierce Brosnan. There was a time when Ireland was so poor that a lot Irish immigrated to other nations, this is the widely-known Irish diaspora. One famous product of the Irish diaspora is one John F. Kennedy, one of the most beloved American president and icon of the American Camelot.

Ireland is not a very big country, in fact, it only has a little less than six million people. There are metropolis which have a bigger population. But it's influence and importance all over the world is undeniable.

About two thousand years ago, a very popular figure was said to have been crucified to save mankind. When that person's life ended, millions of others began to live without guilt of sins. Some said he was human, others would say more than just that. Any other claim by scholars and historians may be as vague as the obscurity of the real event itself, but one thing for sure, the faith that was established lives on in each follower and in the things that have been influenced by it. This includes the flag bearer of the Christian community who is the pope.

The pope stands as the main figure in the celebrated faith of Roman Catholicism. Acting as the Bishop of Rome and technically the head of the faith all over the world, he carries with him the symbols embodied as his holy gown, staff, and the Christian flag he carries. The more specific symbol seen in the papal flag is the center of the ideals and purposes of probably the largest religion in the world.

Defined by the two intertwining keys symbolizing a unity of two pathways of possibilities; leftists and rightists coming together with the papacy as the center of everything, the papal flag is an epitome of peace and harmony under the pope's rule and influence. The yellow motif which may signify a bright outlook and an open friendship is a perfect complement for the white portion signifying purity and cleanliness. All these components make up the dreams and visions which the papal flag would wish to happen.

As one tours the city of Vatican, one may see the different Christian flags which are hoisted high atop sturdy flagpoles. Episcopal flags of all sorts, papal flags of all variants, and all other types of Christian flags are commonly seen in this holy city. This is the same city which prides of earthly independence and a seemingly eternal mandate from heaven to carry out an unmodified faith among others.

Hotel and restaurant management is the course that is popular amongst Filipino students nowadays. One reason they want to engage in this particular is to have the chance to go abroad and have a good job to sustain and help their families. At some point some of those who have different career plans shift to hotel and restaurant management even if they don't like it because they think it's more practical to feed their families than have their owns dreams come true. If we think of it, being practical is necessary we should give up those fancy dreams and just go with reality, but is this really true?

I have come across a lot of job fairs here in the Philippines which offer jobs for HRM students, some of which showcase hotel flags where in they could select the hotel they want to apply in. I would often hear some say that even if the hotel offers a low salary they would gladly take the job because for them it's an opportunity then instead of a smile you would see gloomy eyes. Is this the price of practicality? Or is this the result of pressures form being poor?

If I would be asked I would chase my dreams rather than succumb to the pressures. According to one of my professors in college, it is much important to go with a course you love rather than go for a course you don't love but feeds you. He also added that even if the course feeds you and makes you rich, it's still like any other jobs you start from the bottom to go to the top. He said that he pities those who chase hotel flags instead of chasing their dreams (referring to HRM students) if they only chase their dreams it's much easier for them to be progressive and successful. I smiled at his comments and before I left he added "look at me I'm successful and the best thing about it, I love my profession".

In the age of travel and communication, the world has been made smaller. Connecting together the different places, culture, and nationalities, transportation has paved the way to bridge together people and increase trade. The pace of globalization began with the advancements of means to travel. With the predominant automobiles we see today populating the streets, it is highly suggestive that cars would be here to stay. Different companies have sprung up around the globe over the years to have a shot at the automotive industry, each carrying their trademark designs and trademark car flags.

Each insignia flown by the different banners and flags of these different car companies convey different meanings. From the simplest designs which includes only the letters of the company such as Ford and GMC, to a more elaborate set of figures such as those by Mustang, Jaguar, Mitsubishi, and the like.

The very first brand that became commercially marketed and popularly known was the Ford Model T car. It was the first production line car created for the masses. Ford's logo only consisted of a white striped blue oblong with the word "Ford" in it. It was so simple that it worked wonders for the company as buyers quickly remembered the name and the cars it sold. Even the car flag which flies in front of the Ford Headquarters in Michigan flew the plain logo we are so familiar with.

As for other car brands, Mustang carries the symbol of a steed which symbolizes power and automotive strength to which the company itself prides in among competition. The triceps symbol of Mitsubishi signifies an Old Norse symbol of protection, probably the same protection keeping it existing in a competitive industry. Other brands with symbolic figures definitely have their own interpretation.

Whatever car flag symbols these companies are flying, it is definitely their way of marketing their ideals and influence on the cars that they are selling. Meanings of car symbols are the embodiment of what each of their companies are all about.

Who does not go to malls these days? Especially this kind of days when the air is humid and the heat can kill. The cool air and the fresh scent of a mall can really turn it all around, but sometimes going to the mall can really get on my nerves.

People usually go to malls to shop or just stroll around as for me I do the strolling a lot than shopping. During summer days when the heat bites my skin, I go to the mall and cool off, maybe notice those corporate logo flags like Burger King or McDonald's and get a bite to eat. But oftentimes, I just walk around the mall and do window shopping and stuff.

What's nice about the mall are those pretty girls that roam around-- local or foreign as long as they got the looks for it makes the strolling much, much more fun. Noticing the girls are not all that I look for or see inside the malls. I am a gadget geek so usually I stroll around computer shops. Every time I see those corporate logo flags of Macintosh or Microsoft, they make my heart skip one beat. It's like a drive that makes me go berserk.

Sometimes, I rush to the shops and try everything and anything possible. I often put my hands on those cool computers that Macintosh offers or keenly observe the parts that Microsoft sells for I have a PC at home. If I get fed up with using the computer or observing and surveying some parts, I go to a music shop and listen to some cool songs and relax my soul.

It's super amazing what a normal person like me can do inside a mall. I know every normal person in the world goes to malls but some just overlook how a public place like a mall can be amazing.

Simplicity is beauty.

A quote that struck me long before I knew what beauty was. I always appreciate beauty even if it is little or great and I seldom miss things that are beautiful. Back then beauty for me was being lavish and intricate. Like the design of a peacock's tail I appreciated anything that was bright and sophisticated. I go to beaches and hate the blank flags that sway with the wind for in my eyes I find them simple, unelegant and dull. My friends would criticize me for being so cruel about petty things and for being vain but I cannot blame them for I saw beauty that way. I am appreciated by many for having a great taste in things and designs. At times I hear them say that I had gift for noticing beauty and it would always make me proud.

Until one night everything changed. I saw beauty and elegance and it was not sophisticated yet I found it beautiful, magnificent beyond words. There she stood with that white dress across the room and I could not take my eyes off of her. She was simple and yet her beauty was radiating all over the room. Her smile was majestic and like blank flags on the beaches I swayed with the wind that changed my perception of beauty.

In an instant my outlook was changed, right then and there I knew that simplicity was the highest form of beauty, a beauty that can never be expressed by words or by letters. I approached her and looked at her up close seeing every detail of her face and if it wasn't for my friend I could have melted right in front of her.

Truly, simplicity is beauty and that beauty I saw came with a name, a name that was etched in the deepest corner of my memory, a girl named Krenn.

"The sun is like our hot neighbor. It makes our day bright. I love our hot neighbor. I love the sun." I wrote that about nine years ago, in fifth grade science class, when asked to write something about our most beloved star. It didn't take that long before I learned that almost everybody in the world felt the same way. In geography class, it was stunning to realize the number of countries whose flags have the sun symbol on them. That simple fact continues to baffle me until now. At that time, I didn't even know that Japan's flag was all about the rising sun. The young romantic I way back then would have thought of that red circle as a rough representation of the heart. I still do right now, but of course I know better. Anyway the heart and the sun doesn't differ a lot in my point of view. A while ago I mentioned that I love the sun, didn't I?

Hailed as the land of the rising sun, Japan is living up to its moniker in almost all imaginable aspects. Culturally, Technologically, Economically, name it and Japan surely has something to boast about it. Even Japanese women are making a mark globally. Who can forget Riyo Mori and her Miss Universe 2007 title? Even the internet is brimming with beautiful Japanese models. Now it wouldn't be so hard to say "Japan is like our hot neighbor... as hot as the rising sun."

In the near future when I grow filthy rich, I'd probably consider a global tour that jumps off from Japan. I'll spend my time planning all the beautiful things ahead in a hot spring that has a full view of Mt. Fuji. Every morning, I'll be on the lookout for that beautiful sunrise and realize how it always reminds us of a good day ahead. Just like our hot neighbor.

The war for the Gaza strip has placed the flag of Israel on the headlines once more. The war that has caused many injuries and has taken many lives has been the focal point of the news. But before this war that is being dealt with using guns, missiles and tanks the Gaza strip has been a place were swords clashed and lives were taken. This was the place where one man exhibited great strength coming from God and the man's name was Samson. The adventures if I might say and the love story of Samson took place in Gaza. This is where Samson was delivered into bondage by his love Delilah. This is also the place where Samson died after toppling the temple of the god Dagon.

Israel also featured the greatest king, a king so loved by God. As a proof the Star of David can be found on the flag of Israel. As many of us know Israel has been a place of history, biblical history to be exact and Christ himself once walked this land, to heal people and to offer salvation. The bible says that Israelites are the chosen people of God, but why are they suffering now? Has the Promised Land become plagued by people who have blood lust and greed running through their veins and minds? In my point of view these people who started the war are the same people who have disobeyed the most high in ancient times. I believe it is a plague that cannot be cleansed from the land until the time of repentance. I understand that people do not believe that the past can affect the future but if it is written and if it has happened the land might still be under punishment.

I might be superstitious or biblical but I believe anything is possible.

It's a busy campaign week in our local civic club and the buzz for the new president is quite alarming. There are two candidates for the said position and in my point of view both of them are real good leaders. The club office itself is filled with political party flags. Actually it's quite funny how members use the flags as props for their campaign and not understand the meaning of the flags. Going back to my agenda, the two competing candidates are giving it their all for the glorious position. I believe that the power to control the whole organization has a deep impact on the candidates.

The race for power is on and I have some facts I want to share about the two candidates. The candidate from the Democratic Party has been a member for three years now, he has been with the other club members and he knows their pleas and needs. The candidate from the Republican side is a smart girl. She led various teams in championships and carries the pride of the debating team.

If we look at it carefully both can be very strong leaders. One hears the plea of his people and the other relies on pure skills and intelligence. As a member of the said club, my mind is parted and my decision is somewhat clouded. I would like to be heard by someone who is in power but I would like to follow a leader who knows what to do with her platoon. The political party flags will still be seen throughout the club office but we all know that one will fall and soon everyone would know who the best leader is.

As of now, charisma is the main weapon to use. But for the days to come, all that will be seen are the failures rather than the success.

Everybody wants to be rich and famous someday so that they would get what they want. Some strive hard to graduate to see things happen and unfold for them while others just wait for luck to pass by and give them success. I am one of those who want to strive hard and graduate to get success. I want to buy a mansion and a lot of cars but as for now I can only dream of driving one of those cars and live in one of those mansions. I used to buy car flags that would remind me of my dream back then when I was a kid. I wanted to have a mustang back then so I always bought those car flags that had the mustang logo on it and when I get home I always imagine driving one of those cars.

Now, I laugh and smile about the past, I still have those car flags in my room but I seldom use them. College life is quite hard. Paying the tuition fees and studying to graduate is lot of pain in the neck but I understand that if I want to achieve my dreams I should strive hard. At present, I work as a part time driver for a rich family in our city. Actually it's a bitter sweet feeling being a driver. The feeling is sweet because at times I get to drive a Porsche Cayenne and bitter because it is a pain to drive someone's car you always wanted to have. It's like loving someone who already has a husband.

As of now I could only dream but I know someday those dreams would become a reality.

I always wanted to know how women and teachers think. For women, I only want to know when to engage and when to withdraw. As for teachers, I want an early warning of things to come. I was thinking, what if women and teachers were created with attention flags above their heads. It would be absurd if we all knew how people think. Life would be boring and privacy would not exist. But if people were made to have warning signs or attention flags I believe everything would be easy.

These kinds of attention flags are made to warn people or plainly catch attention so. If there were color indicators, we would know when to engage or withdraw from people we want to meet. For example, if the flag shows red, the people watching would know that the person is angry or annoyed. People will then get the message not to approach him. By knowing this also, people could avoid being turned down and prevent conflicts at bars. Life would seem be peaceful this way.

Other than making life peaceful and less violent, the color indicators can tell if a person is attracted to them. If the flag shows a green color it would mean that a person wants your attention. It would then be easier to approach and converse with that particular person.

My idea of having an easy life is crazy and I know that. Sometimes I just have to let people know of what I think. The idea of people having warning signs is somewhat good. For me, it helps make a person’s life easy. With all the signals and messages it conveys we could get away from mad and violent people and stay with those who like us more.

I was always nationalistic. I dreamed of being a soldier serving my own country and fighting under that military flag that symbolizes the defense of the country I love and treasure. When I was a kid I imagined being a colonel, making absolute and faultless strategies that would crush and make the pillars of the enemy crumble. I used to dream of delivering speeches to my co soldiers and boosting their morale while bringing home medals to my home.

I used to daydream about coming home and seeing my family happy to see me with all the medals attached to my uniform. I wanted to make those dreams a reality so I took an entrance exam for a military school. I gave it all I've got from the physical exam to the intellectual exam and hoped for the best. I prayed every single night to God so that I would be accepted and soon enough the results showed that I passed. I was registered to a military school, a school which held the pride of the whole country. The view and facilities were great and the military flags were hoisted on the center field. That day was a dream come true for me. Years passed and finally I graduated, it was time to serve and protect my country. I was nervous and the same time excited to go to the battlefield and join the heroes that would fight for the country.

At a time of war everything changes in an instant. No one comes back from a war unchanged. Now, I pray each night, asking help from God to release me from the bondage of war. The painful memories and the agony, I wish to be free once more, not knowing anything nor disturbed by nightmares. I want to sleep with no ghosts of the past haunting me.

The design of the state flag of Alabama was made in order to resemble the blue satire flag of the Confederate Battle flag. The said Confederate Battle flag was square-shaped while that of the Alabama state flag was sometimes shown as a square as well.

Some articles written in National Geographic in the year 1917 once said that the flag was based on the Battle flag whose shape was square. In 1987, Attorney General Don Siegelman said the flag of Alabama's proper shape should be a rectangle. This is because of the derivation of the Battle flag had been repeated. It has also been depicted as rectangle in most publications already.

The flag of Alabama shows a crimson cross of St. Andrew which is put on in a field of white. The bars that form the cross on the flag is not less than six inches broad and is extended diagonally across the flag from side to side. There are those who would emulate the flag of Alabama but their cross does not go beyond 6 inches wide. These specifications do not fit to the required ones and thus be be classified as an illegal depiction of the flag of Alabama.

Other than the Confederate Battle flag, there are also other flags in which the state flag of Alabama has been seen as identical. It can be deemed similar to that of the flag of St. Patrick that is incorporated into the Union flag. It was being used by many countries around the world especially by the United Kingdom. It represents the union of both the kingdoms of Great Britain and Ireland.

I was with some friends today - - some gay and lesbian friends to be exact. Actually, they are my group mates for the thesis that we are obliged to make. I was never used to joining these group of people because of the bad publicity that they have been getting. However, somehow I learned to accept and appreciate them. I don't understand why some people despise them so much and why some hate them to death. These people that we sometimes avoid and neglect are actually more spectacular than the normal people we meet. My gay friend for one, is feminine and masculine at the same time. He can do hard labor like men but be artistic like a woman. These people are really amazing, we just have to dig deep to know them.

Anyway when we were in our friends home, particularly in his room, I noticed this pride flag. Out of curiosity I asked why is it hanging and why are my other friends amazed? He just simply said "it just represents our rights as us". Well, I guess some little things can change some people's life. Pride flags may be nothing to most of us but to my friends and the other gay and lesbian people, they mean a lot.

It somehow gives them pride and happiness. And this happiness radiates among us. Unfortunately, some people can be unappreciative or jealous of what these people can do. That's why they can't help but notice them and ridicule them. I guess it hurts to see those talents that you can never have, seeing them in unique people that will never be your friends. In my point of view, we should try to put ourselves in these people's shoe even just for a day. This way then we can surely understand and see the beauty of being truly free.

Have you heard a flag that has a grizzly bear on it? Isn't it cool that someone would choose an animal as bold as a bear to represent its state? The California state flag bears that symbol of a bear. Monarch as they would call, the bear is used as a basis for the California state flag.

I would think that animal representations and symbols would be cool and great for flags. In a military flag, it would be interesting that instead of putting an eagle, why not put a pack of wolves to symbolize unity or a silver back gorilla as a sign of absolute domination and power to overthrow the enemies? Since then, people used animals. It allowed them to incorporate their talents for hunting and build a name for themselves. For instance, a lot would choose to be a Cernian hind, which was one of the beasts that Artemis took care of ---a golden horned bronze hoofed dear that likes to outrun arrows. It represents the speed, prestige and power anyone would want to have.

Another unique creature is the griffin. It is half eagle and half lion that sends good sign for those noblemen of today and of the past. It is remembering the custom crests of the olden days about the symbol of the griffin to let everyone know that they are respectable men and they are never to be messed with. In my homeland, I wish our flag would bear the symbol of the phoenix. It is a legendary bird that resurrects from it's own ashes.

I might be considered a fanatic but sometimes I love trying on new radical ways and adding a little art that can make simple things more beautiful and vibrant.

The land down under! The flag of Australia wears this name. I don't understand why it is called so but as I have heard this country is a beauty. Although the beaches of Australia are shark infested, the beaches and the swimming areas are relaxing. I have seen the movie entitled Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. As seen from my own eyes, most of the scenes depicted in the movie showed Australia as a desolate country. Heat, dust and the desert was all I could see. The movie as a whole was good, the story was awesome and the acting was superb. Knowing that the film was set in the 1930's, my curiosity drove me to research about Australia. The new Australia is quite a beauty basing on the pictures and facts given on the internet. I saw this picture of the Super Pit which is Australia's largest open cut gold mine. I could imagine people and machinery working at the site and from a hawk's eye view they would look like ants and beetles.

Another thing that aroused my curiosity for this country was the news I once read. It was a job offer that would pay you as much as six digits and what you will do is survey an island that seemed like a paradise. I couldn't remember if the government of Australia was shouldering the expenses for the salary or was it some rich guy who just wants to make someone happy. According to the news that I received, Australia is a pretty good place to work. Enjoying the scenery and the pay, Australia is one of the destinations of career-oriented people.

As of tonight, the flag of Australia is one of my destinations. Another two years in college won't hurt and Australia won't run. I just hope that a job awaits me there when I come.

In year 1912, the state flag of Illinois was designed by Lucy Derwent. The design was chosen during a contest sponsored by the Rockford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The contest was led by Mrs.Ella Park Lawrence who was the state regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution during that time.

When the flag of Illinois was to become official, Governor Edward F. Dunne did not sign the bill but he did not also veto it. The Illinois flag became the official state flag for Illinois on July 6, 1915 which also followed its passage in the Illinois Senate and State House.

During the 1960s, there was a petition to have the name of the state of Illinois on the flag. This petition was spearheaded by Chief Petty Officer Bruce McDaniel. Bruce Mcdaniel said that his service during the Vietnam War, there were a lot of people who did not recognize the flag of the state of Illinois. On September 17, 1969, Governor Richard B. Ogilvie signed the addition of the name of the flag into a law. It was designed by Mrs. Sanford Hutchinson right after. The flag then became the official flag of Illinois on July 1, 1970.

The design of the current flag of Illinois is the Great Seal of Illinois showing its state name right at the bottom. The design, which has been emulated from the Great Seal of the United States was originally designed during the year 1819. When we look closely at the beak of the eagle we can see a message that says "State Sovereignty, National Union". This is the official motto of the state.

The first designs of the world flag of the People's Republic of China had first undergone several changes. The flag was finally approved in September 27, 1949 at the First Plenary Session of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference. The original design plans contained a lot of alterations than that of its modern-day counterpart.

Some of the original designs submitted before showed the large golden star similar to that of the current flag but with no additional stars anywhere on the flag. Instead, there were either one, two or three yellow bars at the bottom of the flag that representing the rivers of China. These rivers are: the Yangtze, Huang He and the Zhujiang River. The Huang He river is also known as the Yellow River while the Zhujiang River is known as the Pearl River. These ideas were not chosen because it somewhat suggested the nation as being teared apart or the nation being split.

The final design which is now the current design for the flag is a red flag with the large five pointed star. It goes along with four similar five pointed stars, only smaller. They are arranged in a vertical arc toward the center of the flag in the upper hoist side corner. The color red was chosen for it symbolizes the spirit of the revolution. The five stars located at the upper hoist corner of the flag symbolize the unity of all people in China under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. The flag was originally unveiled during the formal announcement of the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949 in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

During the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776, The United States of America had still no official flag. The Grand Union Flag was considered to be the first national flag of the United States.

Though it was never official during the first course of their independence, it became their official world flag. The Grand Union Flag, with continental colors, was used by George Washington and was used all throughout the American Revolutionary War and has thus been the basis for the design of the very first official United States flag. The Grand Union Flag had the same colors as the current world flag of the United States of America, but it had 9 to 13 stripes, and at that time, the flag was not allowed to be flown outside of the Indian Ocean. Also, instead of the 50 stars that would resemble the 50 states of the United States, the Grand Union Flag had white stripes that had been added to a British Red Ensign Flag, wherein this flag has been commonly used all throughout Britain and its colonies.

Today, the United States of America has its flag as one of the nation's most widely recognized symbols and is also recognized all throughout the world. Within the country, this world flag is currently displayed all throughout public buildings and also in private residences.

I really don't know if this is legal but it is also used as decals for various objects such as bodies and frames of cars and other vehicles. It is also used as part of decorating many pieces of apparel like clothing and bags and can also be seen at various badges and label pins. The flag is not only used as a decoration to various objects but it is used in public discourse in order to refer the United States of America, as a nation state, a government, a set of policies and also a set of ideas and ideologies.

The maple leaf or the national flag of Canada is unique and very puzzling for those who do not recognize the leaf. Based on my own experience, I always thought that the leaf on the flag was the same leaf Little Foot of the Land Before time series ate. Funny as it may sound some people in the world don't care for any country except when there are wars or funny events. I just thought I would write something about Canada to show my apologies for mistaking the leaf on their flag as dinosaur food.

As we all know, Canada was once the home of the aerial acrobat or should I say the Picasso of the slam dunk contest Vince Carter. Vince or Vinsanity as he is called by many has put Canada on the face of the basketball scene. With his crazy dunks over taller players and super artistic dunks on an open court he has raised the levels of basketball. Vince has been out of Toronto for a while now but then young guns like Chris Bosh keep the game hot for Toronto or better yet for Canada.

Canada is a very large country if I would be asked it can be considered as a continent. As I have heard Canada is not that populated making it a good place. In my country when we hear people say immigration we often think of the flag of Canada. Since our country is of the third world we all believe that it is an opportunity to excel or achieve a higher status in life. The maple leaf and the big cities in a country almost as big as a continent, with job opportunities and life changing experiences, Canada has got to be the place for me and my own family.
