Custom table drapes are any kind of table covering used to decorate the table top. Its decorative nature makes it an added aesthetic design to the already presented furniture. It is also known as a table skirt, since its overhang looks similar to that of a skirt and which drapes beyond the table edges. These kinds of drapes may either cover the entire surface of the table or perhaps just a smaller sub section of it.
When covering the whole surface area, custom table drapes may extend beyond the sides, thereby completely covering the edges as well as part of the legs of the furniture. This kind of table covering is the most usual and most popularly used. Some minimalist designs, however have table drapes which only barely cover the surface, and leave a lot of the table surface exposed.
While serving its practical use of being a decorative addition, these custom table drapes serve a practical purpose. For some tables which have drawers or shelves underneath, these drapes may serve as a perfect covering to conceal these compartments, thereby giving a better aesthetic value to the table. The overhangs may also serve as perfect concealment of worn or used chairs that go along with the table.
Some of these custom table drapes may bear the insignia of a clan or a similar patriotic design that complements the theme of the household. From normal tablecloth, custom table drapes are more of an emphasized theme ornament that gives accent to any center piece such as that of a table.

No household would be complete with these basic areas: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and dining room. Those who are more elaborate to designate household areas would include furniture to emphasize them. A bed for a bedroom, a stove or sink for a kitchen, and a table for a dining room, these give color and flavor to a household theme. More elaborate ones would include even more accents to the main furniture such as a dining table covered with a custom table drape.
These pieces of either plain or decorated cloth are seen mainly on tabletops, covering either partial or the whole surface. Custom table drapes are called as such since they have overhangs which go beyond the surface and drape over the edges of the table. Some are large enough to cover the entire surface, with a lot of extra overhang to cover the sides, while some are more streamlined and minimalist in nature, covering only a strip or segment of the surface.
Made of durable cloth, or embroidered with lavish designs, these custom table drapes mainly serve as aesthetic accents to the table they are covering. Some serve a double purpose of being able to conceal shelves or drawers beneath tables, thanks to the generous amount of overhang that covers over.
Some custom table drapes serve more of a patriotic nature, with designs which are either of their family’s insignia, or affinity to a renowned group. Some however are plainly for the purpose of being a decorative piece of cloth to give added class and civility during dining or perhaps during gathering around the table.
