A flag is a representation of many things, people and places and it must be given importance. It is displayed in many places, most often in public areas where it can be seen by more people. It must be kept securely in place especially when it is displayed outdoors. It is important to know how to tie flagpole rope or a halyard.
Below are the steps on how to tie a flagpole rope.
First, know the length measurement of the rope beginning from the top of the pole to the cleat. It is advisable to multiple the measurements by two plus four feet.
Second, the finial of the pole must be detached. Pass the rope’s end through the finial.
Third, tie both ends of the rope by making a square knot. Make sure that the rope is equally between the cleat and the finial.
Fourth, identify a good position for the flag and take a snap clip on top of the pole. The rope must be folded at nearly 8 inches away from the finial.
Fifth, take the end of the rope all the way through the snap clip’s hole and pull the rope just enough for the snap hook can slip through the loop. For the second snap hook, just redo the step.
Sixth, the rope should be pulled until the snap clip reaches the bottom then click the flag to the snap clips.
Seventh, try pulling the rope until the flag is raised up to the flag pole.
Eighth, tie the flagpole rope to the cleat.
