Tips for Home Display
Showing the flag in front of the house such as on your lawn, porch or terrace will attract many people. Many individuals feature a flag pole in front of their house to show their support to the country. Should the pole move over a sidewalk, check the rules in your community first to prevent problems with the US flag presentation.
Hanging the Flag Horizontally from a Window
You can also choose to hang the flag pole at higher places such as a window or balcony. Put the flag at an angle but keep the Union part raised so that it stays at the peak of the flag pole.
Showing Several Flags
You can display more than one flag together with the American banner to make a better presentation. The correct order when arranging National State, Military and Territory flags are as follows. The National state flags should be displayed first, followed by the State flag and then finally the Military flag.
  • National flags must be presented in alphabetical order together with the American flag inside the country and its other territories.
  • State flags must be presented with the host state coming in first followed by other states.
  • Military flags must be shown according to the organization. The Army comes first, followed by the Marine Corps, the Navy, the Air Force, the Coast Guard and others.
Using One Flag Pole
If you wish to display many flags on one flagpole, the USA flag must be placed at the peak or topmost.
