Advertising has always found appropriate solutions to marketing problems. Take the case of twirler flags , the latest trend to hit advertising campaigns, has judiciously altered the marketing field. Why is this so? First flag manufacturers revolutionized the industry by creating flags that are back to back, the purpose is to allow onlookers a good view on either side of the highway. But this comes with a problem, particularly during windy spells banners tend to sway too much that what is visible from the viewers side are the colors not the message printed on it.

In effect, companies tend to put premium on the company color, to give it a special distinction so onlookers will associate it with the products they are advertising. This instant recall strategy has proven to be beneficial only to large companies and for those who have been in the market for quite some time. What about the new entrants in the field? Besides, this was only popular during the early years, since only a few companies advertise using this medium. And with so many companies competing for marketing advantage now, such exposure is found ineffective.

Lets not fret though, because if there's a will there must be a way. NorthStar Flags took the art of flag manufacturing to the next level - by producing twirler flags. Actually these are light and sturdy flags that are provided with a strong frame, so the fabric can be stretched over it with the message legibly printed. Again to make this really visible from all fronts, twirler flags are designed to rotate 360 degrees, so it will be seen wherever you are.

Two types of twirler flags are favored by advertisers - the hook type and the teardrop type of twirler flags. Mind you these are not run of the mill types of flags these are designed to be up to 15 feet depending on each company's preference.

Flags started out as medium for communication, it was the favorite of the American Indians as it can traverse long distances through its smoke signals. It can warn population centers in cases of an impending emergency. When sea travel became a way of life, sea-faring vessels always have these flags at their masts to show their homeport, their nationalities and identities. But most of all flags were used for semaphore signaling, so even at wayward distances ships can communicate, particularly on important news about the weather, sea-piracy and ship emergency.

Today however, with our improved communication facilities, the presence of flags became only decorative in nature. Although flags are still a must for its identity, its importance had totally diminished. Now to add a new dimension to these flags, it is now placed from end to end of vessels to give it a festive appeal.

Cruise ships for example, have hundreds of these flags in the mast, the upper decks and even on the sides. So, tourists out for a swell time will surely develop a feeling that this really is a trip worth the dollars invested. Because of the presence of these boat flags , an atmosphere of gaiety is achieved, so from the embarkation point to the actual sea cruise, it will all be fun - pools and sauna during the day, to gala and formal dining, ballroom dancing at night and casino to the more adventurous. These are wonderful opportunities to meet new people, be intimate with your partners and even close business deals.

Imagine the Queen Mary, a gigantic cruise ship without the flags and you would be totally amazed.

Our generation now has visually formed its preferences, from the Internet to modern communication facilities and even man's preparation for the conquest of the planet Mars, yet individually we have developed into flag addicts. Why? Because we can't seem to live without it; look around us, enter private buildings and residences, or houses of worship, I'm sure any of the custom flags can be seen at strategic places.

We are sure to get the daily dose of flag mania in our midst. When a child is born, aside from chocolates and cigar passed around by the father, the hospital room will be decorated with balloons and flags. As the child enters into baptism he/she will be exposed to praise flags in churches and probably banners during receptions. In all phases of a child's life, flags will be a dominant feature.

In high school and college, flags will again dot the campuses particularly during special days - school foundation day, during sports fests, senior balls and graduation festivities. The flag is the sole motif that will turn an otherwise drab festivity into a more vibrant and fun-filled celebration.

What the child grew with, he/she will bring until maturity. When a company opens up a business, a lot of these custom flags will be used to promote since they have become an important form of advertisement. It could be attached to street poles, or mounted on vacant walls, or high up in the roof, whatever is most appropriate we commit to further our own interests.

Perhaps most of us Americans have seen a Christian flag . It is the flag that was designed to represent all of Christianity but we normally see it inside Protestant churches in Africa, Latin America and North America. It is white in color and has a red Latin cross inside a blue canton where the shade of red stands for sacrifice and Jesus Christ's blood that has been shed on Mount Calvary to redeem mankind; blue representing the picture of royalty of Jesus Christ as King of Kings as well as faithfulness, truth and sincerity; and the white symbolizing the purity of Jesus Christ and peace.

Amongst the number of recognizable flags in the world, the Christian flag is the only free flag because it is unlike any other flag whether religious, secular, ancient or modern. It is independent, cannot be controlled and universal. And unlike all existing national flags and denominational flags, it has no earthly bonds or allegiance; only Christ is its Master.

Christian flags exist for each and every individual regardless of race, sex, national boundary, politics, affluence, poverty, slavery or freedom. Any nation or denomination cannot restrict its existence because it is similar to the air we breathe, it can be used by all but owned by no one.

The first pledge of allegiance to the Christian flag was written by Methodist pastor Lynn Harold Hough in 1908. "I pledge allegiance the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands. One brotherhood, uniting all mankind, in service and love."

The advertising campaign is probably the most crucial part in launching a new product or service because it will dictate whether you are deemed successful or you would finish off kaput - the end. That is why marketing groups of different companies find ways to attract its market segment; to entice a handful to try the product or service; and in turn hope that they become loyal customers. The more popular campaigns include television advertisements, promotion from artists and famous personalities, advertising on billboards so that people can remember the brand and product, and sponsoring product related events. The ones mentioned have been proven to slice up a big percentage of the market segment and likewise raise the estimated company income and revenues. However, this form of advertisement is very expensive that is why only big companies can afford to do these promotional activities.

So what advertising campaign options do small businesses have? Well, you can start of with putting up posters and banners as well as distribution flyers with information about what product or service you are selling, how much it costs, contact numbers for more details and where your shop is located. You may also join trade fairs or shows so that you can further exploit the expected number of spectators and expand the scope of your advertising campaign. And to entice people to come inside your shop, it is best if you can lace it with blank flags to increase the festive atmosphere and most likely it would attract a lot. Plus you will stand out amongst the number of shops in the area because of the colorful and lively appearance that blank flags bring.

As I was walking along the streets of Cambridge, my eyes caught sight of a three-striped flag that has been posted on the building wall. I was very much intrigued with what I saw that I decided to enter the nearby shop, assuming that the shop owned the flag. But then I was wrong because the flag was for a newly opened coffee shop about seven stores away. With what I've heard, I became eager to find out the connection between the flag and coffee shop so I decided to continue on my quest. Then I noticed that more three-striped flags were posted on the street walls; and in a close distant I saw a few people outside a particular shop. I joined the crowd and found the newly opened coffee shop with three-striped flags and banners as decoration. A number of people were coming in and from the looks of it, are also probably interested to try the new products. Out of curiosity, I also ended up trying the goodies inside the shop.

Well, the coffee and the products tasted quite ordinary but more and more people were enticed to try. Perhaps it has something to do with the three-striped flag, or attention flags as it is more popularly called. The attention flags not only lured people but also it provided a different impression on the total package of the coffee shop. That was one advertising campaign that I could not forget because it proved to be very effective in attracting consumers plus it became the signature insignia of the coffee shop.

Whenever we walk near a construction site, we almost always see warning signs that are either hanged or posted on the gates or barriers. Sometimes we do not really read the messages imprinted but we still take the necessary precautions such as taking a different route or by walking quickly to avoid accidents due to falling debris. Perhaps, instinct tells us that it is unsafe to pass through these areas regardless of a warning sign's presence. Although most of us are aware of the danger in these areas, it is still necessary for building contractors to inform passersby to evade the possible dangers.

So what is the best way to inform passersby? Well, you can assign a person who will tell everybody that the area is unsafe; but that would be too costly and cumbersome, besides only a few people would benefit from such system. So, the best option is still to put up some signs, and what is advisable are danger flags. Your danger flags need not be printed with the message in detail, but the mere presence of such flags would normally alert passersby of the impending danger. Always remember though that these flags must be posted on areas or walls that are visually legible to the public. And since danger flags are almost always in red fabric, it is advisable to print the danger word in white or black to create the proper contrast so people both nearby and afar, can easily understand the message.

The Casino is probably one of the most loved destinations for people who would like to have fun and play the numbers game. Some of the most common games include the slot machines where you play one-on-one against a machine and poker where you play with a limited number of people and a dealer.

Poker is probably the most popular card game in the casino. The game procedure is simple; players simply place a bet into a central pot depending on the value of the card combination in their possession. There are two ways in declaring the winner, the player who holds the highest value according to the established hand rankings hierarchy or the player who makes an un-called bet. There are many poker variations, yet all following a similar pattern of play.

Poker has a specifically designed table, the poker table. For televised professional poker game, a fairly oval shaped table is used where players sit around and the dealer holds space in an indented area facing them. In amateur poker games, a round or octagonal table is used and the dealer's position rotates; usually the poker table is padded and raised slightly so that players could rest their arms. Most often this table is covered with custom poker felts that have been made from fine material so that cards will easily slide across the surface. Poker felts normally feature an image, name or logo of the casino or the house where it is being played.

In this age and time, people always find different ways of advertising their products and services. You can advertise on television and hire important and famous people to promote your product; put up tarpaulins on billboards along the busy areas of the city so that spectators would be enticed to buy your product; sponsor special events and shows where you can grab a handful of the market you are serving; take part in medical missions or other community service activities because most likely people will try and purchase your products because of your involvement in important pursuits; and participate in trade shows where you can thoroughly introduce your product and further expand your market in turn. But then you may ask, how can I shine in a crowded event such as a trade show? Well, you must perfectly plan your booth design and put up colorful banners, streamers, and especially twirler flags.

Why give emphasis on twirler flags? What makes custom wave banners flags unique? Basically, twirler flags can easily be transported because it is made from lightweight material. You would not have much problem with its assembly because it has been perfectly made for easy installation. Plus if you are on a rush to leave the area, you can simply dismantle it in no time. Also you do not have to add up other designs or posters on your promotional area because the flag design and color would definitely attract a number of spectators considering that this type can rotate 360 degrees. That's what I will call maximum promotional exposure.

Flags are one of the most common design ornaments inside houses, offices, schools and government buildings because it brings a different aura and patriotic ambience to the area and probably a new identity to the place. Flags on lengthy and slender poles are normally placed outside because it can be more visible to a number of people; indoor flagpoles and fan flags are displayed for decorative purposes; while miniature flags are used for atriums and other function rooms.

But then you may ask, what is a miniature flag? Sometimes called a stick flag, a miniature flag is a small flag supported by a short pole. Typically the flag is around 4''x 6'' of either paper or plastic and stapled on a black wood or plastic 10'' pole that has a gold spear ornament on the topmost part. But today, there are flags that are attached to the pole by a pole hem to give it a more pleasant appearance. These miniature flags comes with a customized base that are normally black in color and made of plastic, styrofoam and wood block. Bases are round shaped and can be ordered with about 1 to 12 holes; but for extremely large collections, there are available bases with around 50 to 100 holes.

But if you still cannot picture out a custom miniature flag you might as well remember the decorations used during the United Nations Day where a number of country flags were aligned in a specific area to show the flags of the different nations of the planet

Traditionally, car flags were only seen either during the national flag day where all Americans are practically busy posting, hanging and displaying of the American flag or during occasions where an important person such as a country ambassador or state leader visits a particular area. Of course during that time we see the presence of other flags such as country flags, state flags and institutional flags. But today, we almost always see car flags in about 4 out of 10 cars that pass us by. Not only do we see American car flags but also we see other types sporting a school or company logo, sports team logo and organization symbols. All of these representing one's support over a particular group that he fully admires and endorse.

Notice when the NBA finals is near, team fans rush to stores where they can purchase team paraphernalia to show their loyalty. Likewise to encourage other supporters to participate and attend the games where their team is playing. Some buy team jackets, sweatshirts and caps; others purchase cups and pens; and even some order custom car flags and banners just to flaunt around town that they are hooting for a particular team. Take for instance this past week; I've already seen a couple of custom car flags with Los Angeles Lakers logo imprinted on it. And as the days go by, more and more car flags can be expected in the busy streets of the city. People are just happy that their favorite team might end up being the champion of the season.

I really wanted to join the Boston Marathon this year but I didn't have the time to prepare a couple of weeks before the event since I was just too busy meeting deadlines and running some errands that my mother had requested. And when I finally had my free time, it was already too late to start the exercise regimen for the said event. So I ended up supporting my friends who have joined in.

Participants of the marathon crowded in the Athlete's Village in Hopkinton before it started. There I saw more than a thousand runners; some sitting on the benches while listening to their iPods or reading newspapers; others were lying either on the ground or the tarpaulin that they have brought with them; several where walking through and fro, most likely nervous about the marathon; and a few were busy stretching and jogging, probably preparing their body for the long run.

When the marathon started, I proceeded to the finish line in Bolyston Street so that I would be able to see the winner of the race; likewise to cheer for my friends when they are near the end of the event. When I arrived at the area, I was overwhelmed with the lovely sight, organizers filled it with colorful street banners hanged and posted on every section. And the multitude of people at the site even adds up to the liveliness of the area. Both young and old were patiently waiting, bringing with them support banners and flags for their loved ones.

Everywhere we go and everywhere our eyes turn to, we see flags on poles, hanged on walls and decorated inside houses. It seems that it is the most widely used decoration and promotional tool in the country today. Other than the American flags and institutional flags that we see in the highways and streets, we likewise have seasonal flags that are displayed by the government within the city that announces the coming of winter, spring, summer and or fall. Normally these seasonal flags are aligned in an area where numerous people pass or where people are mostly converge such as in train stations and bus stops. Every year we see different seasonal flag designs that amuse us since we are reminded with the memorable events in our lives that had happened in a particular season or we are excited with the events that we would be doing.

Are seasonal flags limited only to showing the four seasons that we experience yearly? Not necessarily because almost all of the events and occasions that we celebrate are apart of the seasonal flag line. For instance special events such as Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick's, Halloween, Fourth of July, Father's day, Mother's day and Valentines. We normally see these flags hanged and posted on restaurant, shopping malls, hotels, bars and coffee shop premises. For more intimate celebrations including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and graduations, we see these displayed on parties and houses. For other celebrations not mentioned above, you can check with North Star Flags and Flagpoles

During the 25th anniversary of the rainbow flag in 2003, several gay pride celebrations were observed. There were street parades where lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender joined in wearing colorful clothing together with the marching of pride flags. Shows and other presentations were likewise offered to all people who are interested to watch and learn. And what made the celebration more exciting was that the original eight-striped pride flag was displayed. A lot of people were delighted to see the original pride flag raised yet it was not good enough to change the preference of the LGBT to changing their six-striped color pride flag.

The pride flag which originally started in United States, is a worldwide known symbol today. There are even several variations made including that of the 'lambda,' a Greek letter, imprinted in white and positioned in the middle of the flag and either a pink or black triangle in the upper left corner. Several colors where likewise added such as a black stripe which represents the LGBT members who died of AIDS. Also in gay alterations of national and regional flags where oftentimes the red and white stripes of the American flag is replaced by the rainbow colors of the pride flag. And in 2007, a new variation of the flag was introduced, the Pride family flag, where it features the current LGBT flag of six-stripes with additional elements of a heart and home in the canton of the flag. This flag symbolizes how far the LGBT community has reached its goal of being accepted in the society as well as being parents and becoming a family.

During parades and ceremonies, we almost always find flag bearers who patiently carry the flags despite the long hours spent on marching and standing still. I can't help but admire the courage and endurance that these flag bearers possess because I know for a fact that it is very difficult to carry the flags since it is a bit heavy and considering the long period, it is pretty obvious that one would have to tire out.

As I came across a flag bearer, I asked how he has managed to bear the flag for the entire duration of the ceremony. He told me that he just got used to it since he has been doing it for 4 years straight now. And he added that flag bearers are required to use flagpole carrying belts that's why they do not necessarily have to endure the entire weight of the flag at all times. That's one trick they use to help them keep the flags in position, likewise helping them maintain their balance. Since I'm not familiar with flagpole carrying belts, I asked him to show me the gadget. He even demonstrated how effective it was.

So here is what I've discovered with the demonstration. Flagpole carrying belts are attached to the flag bearer's body where it is securely tightened to ensure that the flag would stay in position. And it can be adjusted to fit the flag bearer's body since its function is similar to a belt. Once it is fitted to the body, you can go marching and enjoy the festivities even for very long periods.

Wooden flagpoles were used to support the flags in the earlier times because it was the only material available at that time. Today, rarely do we see wooden flagpoles because it becomes unsightly and requires high maintenance considering that it needs regular check for splinters and painting retouches. That is why manufacturers came up with other options for flagpole materials - steel, aluminum and fiberglass.

So among the three options given, what is the best material for flagpoles? If you're setting up a residential flagpole, wherein it does not require a lengthy pole, you can use either aluminum or fiberglass. Aluminum flagpole is less expensive, sturdier, lightweight and does not require high-maintenance. In fact it only needs occasional washing and repainting. On the other hand, fiberglass flagpole has a glossy appearance due to its coat of gel finish that makes it resistant to soiling and scratching. Regular washing and inspection on its supporting steel works is required to maintain it.

But if you would want a multiple length flagpole, no other material beats the strength and durability of steel. However, one defect of steel is it is prone to rust particularly when left exposed to the elements for a considerable period of time. So, when steel can only solve your flagpole problem, specify that they be thoroughly galvanized because such coating can render your pole weather resistant.

Regardless of which flagpole material you will choose, you are assured of its durability and long life because manufacturers have assured that every pole released is of the best in quality. So, what you can do now is to choose the more appropriate material and the budget for your flagpole.

The American flag is the most important symbol for all of us Americans because it represents unity and strength. That is why most, if not all are putting up flags to show that they too share that belief. Some put decorative flags inside their houses and offices; others attach flags outside the walls of houses; and even some install residential flagpoles on their garden.

Seeing flagpoles in residential areas is a very beholding experience because you will be able to get a closer glimpse of the flag without having to go outside, in schools or parks. Plus you can always visit the flagpole every time you would desire. But during nighttime, residential flagpole owners have difficulty maintaining the glow of the flag because of the improper lighting schemes. Others simply depend on the streetlights for illumination and there are even some who use glaring floodlights. It is but necessary that residential flagpole owners ensure that the proper lighting for flagpoles be used so that even at night, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the flag. However, if you refuse to make the necessary actions, your flag would just be one of the objects of the night.

The best thing to do is to visit flagpole stores and manufacturers, especially when you do not have an idea on the fitting light to be used, because they will help you with this problem. You will be given options on the kind of lighting that could be used on your flagpole and they can even install it for you. Problem solved then.

We always find ourselves in a dilemma, a very difficult situation wherein we are expected to make a choice between two or more opportunities, one that will be joy or it could be heartbreak not only on us but also to the lives of people dear to us. Take for instance a single mother who is given a chance to work abroad; she has to decide on whether to pursue and leave her son or to refuse the offer so she can take care of her son and see him grow. For practical reasons, it is best if she goes abroad because it would probably bring her and her son a good life. But considering her emotional attachment and parental instincts for her son, it would be very difficult for her to leave. In situations like this, people look for solutions; some asks other people's opinions; others weigh in the pros and cons; and quite a few visit houses of worship and ask for God's guidance.

Upon entering a house of worship, we find ourselves engulfed by the solemnity of the area and we are drawn to sit down or kneel. We spend long hours inside the place - in solitude, praying, asking for help and even sometimes we just sit quietly waiting for the answer to come. During those hours spent, we see praise banners that are hanging on the wall supported by praise banner poles . We read the biblical quotes on these banners and then we are enshrined with new energy, hope and then we are relieved. It feels likely that God has answered our problem and we happily step out of the place because we now have the renewed strength to do what is right.

The purpose of flagpoles has dramatically changed over time. Used to be a simple wooden pole that holds the most important symbol of honor and identity in the olden times; yet now it has evolved into one of the main reasons why the flag has achieved respect from those who believes in it. Flags on poles are given high-regard because it seems that the flag commands respect and admiration with its every wave. Although there is no scientific explanation on how the flags on poles demand the rightful treatment, there is no doubt that people respond accordingly.

Aside from the changes in its importance, wood is no longer the sole material used as flagpoles. Today, one would find aluminum and fiberglass flagpoles in the market. Aluminum flagpoles are more preferred by buyers because it is very strong compared to other materials available. But despite being sturdy, this type of flagpole is not heavy and it does not require high-maintenance. Moreover, it is less expensive that's why buyers often end up purchasing aluminum flagpoles. Fiberglass flagpoles come second in sales. It is fully finished with a glossy coat of gel that makes this type of flagpole resistant to scratching and soiling and likewise eliminating the hassle of maintaining its glowing appearance. Considering the characteristics it contains, it is not surprising then that it is quite expensive. Regardless of the type of flagpole you will be choosing, you are definitely assured that the price you pay is of equal worth to the quality and durability of the purchase.

The first time I went online to learn about flagpole, I was so surprised with the number of questions that I needed to ask myself before I purchased a pole. I called the 800 number to get some help and the sales person had a number of questions they asked. How high would your flagpole be? Would you want a one-piece flagpole or in multiple sections? What material would you want to use, aluminum or fiberglass? Would it be an internal or external halyard system? I always thought that by visiting the stores, I would just have to choose over designs and colors. But then, it proved me wrong because I have to decide over a number of things before I could get hold of my very own flagpole.

The first two questions were quite easy because I just had to call my husband about the length of the pole and since it was not too high, we ought to purchase a one-piece flagpole. Besides, we would not want to extend the pole in the coming years because we will not be able to appreciate the beauty of the flag. With the third question, we had to weigh our odds because both options are good but the prices greatly vary. Nevertheless we ended up choosing the fiberglass material because we wanted a pole that could withstand the salty air next to the ocean. Would it be an internal or external halyard system? I was completely stunned by the question because I had no idea what the salesperson was referring to. However, when he started to explain to me the difference, I effortlessly choose the internal halyard system . What convinced me is the mere fact that it is more appropriate to use when the flag is raised and stays permanently, besides the pulley system is inside the pole.

How well do you know your flag ? Ask the baby boomers generation and definitely you'll get a good and positive answer including its colorful history. In fact they are so adept with the subject that they can inspire people by the way they relate the saga behind the development of the national tricolor. From the time the flag was first used by George Washington, to the moment where it became the rallying point as Abraham Lincoln urged the troops during the civil war, and even during man's first landing on the moon.

How will our modern generation or generation 'Y' answer to such query? Well in scale of 1 to 10 maybe probably 4. They know their flag, but they could not relate to it with the same passion as the baby boomers generation. Our educators have always taught our students the importance of the flag, and as such it will always be glued to their minds what our founding fathers sacrificed in order for us to attain the freedom that they aspired in the first place.

How did the American flag inspire its people? During the World Wars, the American flag becomes a universal symbol of freedom, because wherever it was displayed and on whatever country it always serves as a safe haven for people struggling for freedom. In the South Pacific for example, the surrender of the Japanese forces signifies the raising of the American tricolor ending a decade of war. As the reel of the event was brought to the silver screen, Americans stood in salute to the ideals that Americans hold, for justice and equality for all.

It was a moment for Americans, indeed each had become really proud of our existence and as a major contributor to the fight for democracy.

Perhaps most of us are thinking that setting up a flagpole is easy because we can always check out the manufacturers in our area. Besides, we can even pay for installment fees so that we need not feel the hassles of putting it up. Quite true. But then before you can drive yourself to the nearest flag manufacturer, there are certain issues that you need to resolve.

How high would your flagpole be? Where is the more appropriate location for setting up the flagpole? Flagpoles should be seen from all possible angles because it would be deem useless if it has a limited reach. I guess you would be thinking that the best solution is to have a very lengthy flagpole, but it shouldn't be that way. It would be very uncomfortable for onlookers because they would have to cramp their necks just to see the flag.

What material should be used? There are two fitting materials that you can choose from, aluminum or fiberglass. Mostly, aluminum is preferred because it is sturdy and lightweight compared with other options. Likewise it does not need high maintenance thus eliminating the hassles of keeping it. And it is less expensive. A fiberglass pole on the other hand is more stylish. It has been finished in a glossy coat of gel that makes it resistant to soiling and scratching. Also it does not require high maintenance but it is quite expensive.

Which should you choose, internal or external halyard system? There is practically a slight difference between these two. With the external halyard system , the remaining cable or rope is wrapped around a cleat located on the base of the flagpole. With the internal halyard system, the pulley system is fixed inside the flagpole.

Flags are one of the oldest symbols in this world. Its origin started in ancient history where it may have been used as decorative buntings or perhaps used as ceremonial symbols. Although it is very easy and simple to make and display, flags were considered as superior among the number of symbols present at that time. It is probably for the simple reason that it draws attention every time it freely moves whenever it is caressed by the wind.

The flag has always been the widely used symbol because it can be carried easily and it is the most appropriate way to introduce a person, thing or organization to a crowd; and since the diagrams on the flag are easily remembered by spectators. Amongst the number of symbolism attached with flags, the most popular include representing gods, leaders, ships, merchants, communities, craft guilds and ships. Once a flag is captured by an enemy or an opponent during a battle, it becomes a slap on the face because it only means failure to defend what it stands for.

Today, the purpose of the flag remains to be the same, to represent what a body of people believes. But other than that, flags are now used for advertising purposes because it has been proven to draw attention. Companies simply print their logos on flags and place these on crowded areas to attract spectators and right there and there they are able to convey their messages. Even some use display flags to guide onlookers on the right location of specific stores.

I always thought that all flagpoles were made from the same material. But then I was wrong because when I checked the Internet, I discovered that there are about four types of flagpole - wood, fiberglass, aluminum and steel. Traditionally, wooden flagpoles were used where it was normally painted with white to enhance the beauty of the pole. But now, seldom do we use wooden flagpoles because it cannot withstand the changes in the weather condition. That is why manufacturers came up with flagpoles made from aluminum, fiberglass and steel because it is sturdier and can stand still even on extended flag display runs.

But then you may ask, why did manufacturers came up with three types of flagpoles? Simple. It is because not all flagpole type is appropriate for every location. For instance, a steel flagpole can never used on an area near the sea because it would corrode with saltwater and should be amply protected. It is but important that the more fitting flagpole is used in an area because it will dictate the life span of the pole. Choosing otherwise would only take a lot of time and effort because you would do everything and anything to maintain it.

How do I maintain a flagpole? Wooden flagpoles would require regular check up for splinters, wood rut, termite attacks and painting retouches. Aluminum and Steel flagpoles on the other hand would need occasional washing and repainting. And fiberglass flagpoles should be regularly washed and inspected on its supporting steel works. But you don't have to worry about the cleaning solutions to be used and touch-up paints needed because manufacturers have covered these as well.

A flagpole supports the flag when it is raised in the air. Normally, it is made of aluminum, fiberglass, steel or wood. Yet today, we seldom see wooden flagpoles because it is less durable compared to the other three mentioned and it would not be able to stand extended flag displays. Likewise it requires constant maintenance because it is easily affected by the changes in the environment.

Do flagpoles have the same height? No. The height of the flagpoles depends on how high the owner wants the flag to be raised. But the rule of thumb is, it must be higher than the building it serves. Owners can even choose to purchase either one-piece flagpoles or in multiple sections. Yet more and more people choose to purchase flagpoles with multiple sections because of the desire to extend it when necessary.

What are the typical parts of a flagpole? Almost always we see snaps that attaches the flag to the pole; a pulley, normally located on top of the pole, that helps raise the flag; rope (halyard) or cable that likewise helps in flag raising and lowering; cleats where the rope is tied; truck that covers the topmost part of the pole to prevent the entry of water; and shaped ornaments such as a ball and eagle that serve as decorative accessory. All of these flagpole parts are guaranteed by manufacturers to last a lifetime that is why every buyer is assured of its durability. But then there are different varieties of flagpole parts and the more appropriate one should be used depending on the flagpole height and weight and the size and weight of the flag.

People have so many ways of showing their pride on their flags; there are people who wears clothes with flag designs; some place decorative objects with flag patterns inside their houses or offices; others put miniature flagpoles on their desk; and several setup residential flagpoles inside their properties. All of these practices are appropriate and acceptable since we are unique individuals having different manners of expressing our feelings. Yet despite the number of ways, we consider it best if flags are left flying in the air supported by a flagpole. Primarily because we have been accustomed to such practice considering that even in the early times flags have already been raised up in the air. Also it is the best way that the flag can command respect and admiration from the people who believes in it. Notice the rewarding feeling every time we see flags in the air? It is indescribable.

This is probably the reason why we act differently during flag ceremonies. It seems likely that we are overpowered by the presence of the flag and we willingly give respect to it by placing our right arm on our chests and heartily singing the national anthem while it is being raised. Some people would certainly react to what I've said because through the years we have been taught to act that way. But then how can one explain the emotional attachment that people have every time the flags are raised? That can't be taught in schools or by anybody. Think about it.

In the earlier times, flags were only seen during Independence Day, flag ceremonies and other special events where a number of people attend. Yet today, flags can practically be seen in any direction, look and certainly there's a flag around. There are flagpoles on the highways, outside government buildings and campuses. Rooftop flags on company buildings where a limited space is being occupied. Indoor flagpoles and fan flags decorated inside houses and offices that add prestige to the area. And we even find residential flagpoles on our neighborhood. Most of us are probably surprised with the idea of having flagpoles inside residential areas because we have been accustomed with seeing flagpoles in the working district of the city. But then times change and together people's preferences have changed as well.

Flagpoles have become one of the most sought after garden accessories today because it adds an artistic look on the overall landscape. Not only that, it likewise allows the owners to flaunt their admiration of the flag and what it represents. Besides wouldn't you want to have a unique garden? Some of the most common garden designs that require a flagpole include those with mini golf courses because it would enhance the beauty of the area. Another would be a walkway cutting across a large span of greens because the presence of a flagpole would surely add glamour and life to the area. And a vast green space would definitely look attractive with a flagpole because it will serve as the focal point or main attraction. Regardless of what garden design you have, its impact would absolutely change with a flagpole.

Have you seen an indoor flagpole? I have and I'm always at awe every time I see one because of the exquisite look that it had. Although it seems like a decorative object inside houses and offices, its presence captures the attention of every person inside the area. Primarily since it holds a symbolic item such as the country flag and organizational flag. Also it was built with superb craftsmanship that most people find it really amazing whenever they take a closer look.

There may only be three parts comprising an indoor flagpole if you're only looking at its exterior, the flag, pole and stand. But further observation would tell that similar to the lengthy flagpoles that we see outside school buildings, parks and government institutions, it is equipped with an ornament, specialized indoor flagpole hardware such as the screw joints and its design has been perfectly made to withstand weather conditions when it is used in parades.

What makes an indoor flagpole different then? Other than the obvious disparity in size, the indoor flagpole installation is easier. You simply have to follow the guide that comes with every purchase and in less than an hour, you can display your very own indoor flagpole.

I guess the next question that will be raised concerns with the durability of the flagpoles. One should never worry because indoor flagpoles have been made to last a lifetime. Even if the flag falls off, the flagpole remains steady because its parts have been manufactured to withstand condition such as the one mentioned.

During a flag ceremony, we tend to focus only on the flag being raised and to the lyrics of our national anthem. We sing heartedly and we look upon the flag, raised slowly. But after the anthem has ended and the flag has reached the top, we slowly turn around and go back to our respective work.

Amongst the number of times you have attended a flag ceremony, did it ever cross your mind how the flag reaches the top; what system could have made the flag raising possible? Probably most of us would say the ropes attached on the flag and the poles are the ones working to lift it up and we don't have to meticulously learn the system because only a few of us do the chores of raising the flags. Thus only them should know how the flag raising system works. Partly it's true but it is still interesting to know how the flag flawlessly rise to the top of the pole.

Other than the rope that we see, there are several flagpole accessories that help ease the flag rising scenario such as the winch (particularly applied to large and heavy flags), a mechanism normally with gears for raising and lowering flags and also comes with a handle; the cleats which are attached to the flagpole, wall or shaft and prevents the flag from freely going upward or downward the pole; and the counterweight, a box or object or steel block with support channels and base plate. These are just some of the necessary gadgets in a flagpole and if you're very much interested to discover the other internal rope system flagpole accessories and parts , you should check NorthStar Flags and Flagpoles for the finest & most durable parts.

You may have been asked these kind of questions, why do all ships have flagpoles? Does it play an important role? Or is it just for decorative purposes? One of the most important objects in sailing ships is the nautical flagpole because this is where the country flag or the organization's flag is. Without it, the ship would not be well represented and passing ships would not be able to recognize the country of origin or the organization that the ship belongs to. Besides, it would be a great help for ships that have engine or navigation troubles because the flag on the flagpole is visible from afar. Also it is really necessary for a ship to raise its flag because the absence of it could mean a threat to the area thereby putting yourself at risk because passing ships might consider you as an enemy. In addition, when you have gone beyond your country's territorial water's, the foreign country accosting your vessel would know which group or country you came from, so they can offer assistance.

Nautical flagpoles can also be used as a means to flaunt your country's flag. Showing it to foreign ships would give an impression that you are proud of your country and you honor your flag. Also it would mean that you're asking for respect and you must extend the same courtesy for other passing ships.

So the next time somebody asks you about the existence of nautical flagpoles, you can reply accordingly.

Ever wondered how flags on the poles do not fall off even if it comes subjected to strong winds? Well probably the first answer that we would hear is that it is securely tied up or strong enough to withstand any battering - weather condition. True enough because as observed, flagpoles have gadgets that are shaped like two horns that extend parallel to the poles. This gadget is called a cleat . Traditionally, it has been used on ships where the rope is almost always used to support the sail and other equipment. And since it was deemed effective in securing the rope even when the ship is moving against gale like winds and torrential rain, this gadget has been used in flagpoles as well. Although the cleat is not a very sophisticated gadget, its importance could be measured by keeping our flags up on the poles.

Today, cleats are slightly different than before. It is smoother, unlike in the past where sailors almost always get cut or bruised because of the rough surface. And there are several types of cleat today such as chrome plated, cast in bronze, aluminum and nylon and stainless steel to avoid the appearance of rust and likewise to further extend its durability. Other than that, there are several cleat designs available that you can choose from if you would want a decorative cleat. But regardless of which type and design of cleat you would purchase, it's purpose remains; to secure the rope that is tied on it, in order to support the object attached.

In every outdoor event such as dirt car racing and beach volleyball, we find banners and flags that sway every time wind passes by. Most of us think that those serve as markings on a dirt car track or wind indicators on a beach volleyball game. But then again our assumptions are far from the truth, because the true significance of these flutter flags as they call it, remains known only to the organizers.

Actually, flutter & feather flags do not play an important role in the fulfillment of the events mentioned. Its presence on these occasions is simply to inform the crowd that an event is ongoing. And since it captivates most, if not all of the participants and spectators, flutter flags became advertising mediums wherein sponsoring companies print their names, logos and products being advertised. This marketing concept proved to be effective even on new products because it brings awareness to the public. And for older brands and products, this concept strengthened the loyalty of its consumers.

In addition, flutter flags serve as a diversion to those people who are bored with an event or when he simply has nothing to do. By looking at those flags, particularly the design and color scheme used, it calms his senses and relieved of the pressures in work, play and family. In doubt with what I've said? Well, you might as well find it out yourself.

Regardless of what flutter flags do in any event, people always expect its presence because it gives life to a dull and boring environment.

Have you noticed the table covers that companies and organizations use on public events? Ever wondered why these are almost always present in occasions? Some would probably say that it is simply used to cover the dirt and defects that the tables have while others claim that it adds life to a boring event or products booth. Come to think of it, what really is the true purpose of these (covers).

In a very crowded environment such as trade shows, it is very important for a booth or station to stand out. That is why participants take time and effort to come up with a very inviting booth. A number of them put up banners and ornaments; and there are some who add television sets and radios. Although these ideas proved to lure spectators, still a properly designed table banner beats all others. This is primarily because it becomes the main attraction of the booth. Observe how people react to a booth without a table banner, they tend to shy away because it seems to lack importance and substance; while booths with table banners surprisingly gets more visitors because of the festive atmosphere it represents.

But of course not all table banners have the same effect. There are some details that must be ironed out, such as the type of cloth, color combination and graphic designs. Normally, companies display their logos and the text that will best describe the products being advertised.

Most of us are pretty amazed on how miniature flags can turn a boring event into a lively one. This is probably because of the array of colors and the designs created to set the mood of any occasion. For some, miniature flags are childish since most children find joy every time they take hold of it. But then, it doesn't really matter how people think. What matters most is that it brings happiness to a large number of spectators. Besides, wouldn't it be fun to be a child once again, even in thoughts?

Even if miniature flag is old school for most, it still remains to be one of the anticipated motifs of outdoor events such as family day, camping, sports activities, festivals and parades. The aforementioned events wouldn't be complete without the miniature flags. So organizers continue to put these up in line with the events' tradition.

But miniature flag designs have evolved trough time, from the traditional, to the more upbeat particularly those with multi-colors. Some adorn every corner and others are given out on occasions and events, especially those with flashy and catchy imprints on it. Some flags contain cartoon characters, pictures, crests and anything that the organizers would wish to include. And when companies are involved, expect the miniature flag to have a logo and products printed on it.

Considering the evolution of the miniature flags use, some of us wonder what other things could still come out of these? Well I guess we'll just have to wait.

A lot of non-Americans are wondering why the 50 states of the United States came up with independent flags. Isn't the American flag enough to represent the country and its people? Is it really necessary to have state flags? The American flag symbolizes the unity of the 50 states that it embodies. This means that all of these states agree upon the same views and sentiments. Yet regardless of these similarities, each of these states has unique attributes and characters that make them different from one another. Besides, they had been separate states before they were united under a common flag. So, naturally prior to the union, they had established culture and traditions uniquely theirs alone. They simply are trying to retain their identity outside of them being Americans.

Not only did these state flags define one state from the other, it likewise helps government draw the line particularly in governance, in equal representation and demographics. Each state are represented by duly elected officials and representations is carried over to the senate and congress, so that problems and solutions are products of a national consensus. In situations where every American needs to be informed, the government simply calls the attention of the 50 state leaders and the message is then relayed at ease.

Although the state flags separate one from the other it does not necessarily mean that the Americans are divided because they still believe and honor the same flag, the American flag. The state flags are just there to remind the people that this country is composed of different characters and ideals that have united to come up with a stronger country. And it is necessary for all of us to respect the beliefs and characters that each state possesses.

In an organized family day affair, we are almost always given a color that would represent our group. We are even asked to wear the designated group color so that judges of the games can easily recognize the leading teams and announcers could give updates on the games in progress. Other than that, competing players can take note of the group colors that they need to beat.

Normally, a family day affair is composed of three to five games where every member can contribute his talents and abilities in order to win. Typically, the first few games are easy and may even be referred to as teasers. And in the final game, teams deal with different challenges that require them to move around the area where they are guided by flag markers that hold their team color. Amongst all the games that have been played, the final game is probably the most exciting because both physical and mental capabilities of the team players will be tested. Even the coordination and trust of every family member will be on trial since not everybody will be able to do the challenges that will be required of them. The family who is able to surpass all the challenges in a limited time will surely be proclaimed the winner. Although one team will be named champion, the other teams are deemed to be winners because they have fought well and as a family they have not given up. Plus, they got to spend time with each other. That's probably more than a trophy made of gold.

A country flag is a symbol that represents the struggles, culture and traditions of its citizens. Normally these flags serve to define the country's history or it could be an expression of the country's freedom and bravery of a few men to liberate the people from oppression among others. Considering the depth of the significance of the country flags, this could probably be the primary reason why citizens take pride in their flags and they flaunt and wave it even if they are already citizens of a new land. Take for instance the Spanish-speaking populace who have migrated to the United States, as observed, their houses have country flags posted outside their doors; Spanish owned establishments and institutions have hanged flags; and others who open up restaurants and shops put up Spanish message flags . So, normally customers who want to taste Spanish delicacies would enter establishments colorfully designed with the country flag.

True enough, Spanish migrants passing along the specialty shops enter not only to taste the food but also to savor the feeling of being home once again. This is because the decorations and the atmosphere inside these shops are designed to make one feel that he is in his own country. Other than the migrants, foreigners enter these specialty shops too out of curiosity over the new delicacies that could be a treat to their palate. And those who have already visited the Spanish country take time to spend lunch or dinner on these shops because of their desire to duplicate the feeling and ambience once again. With the Spanish migrants' unsurpassed loyalty towards their flag, they have elevated the idea of reverence to one's flag.

Autumn is probably the second most favorite season of the year for parents and children alike. This is due to the favorable weather condition experienced, not too cool yet not too warm. Also, summer vacationers have already gone and townspeople can now peacefully enjoy the serenity of their place and amenities all by themselves.

During this time of the year, parents have been accustomed to prepare a number of family activities that would allow them to spend more time with their children as well as take off their kid's boredom that usually follows with a longer daytime. Some of these activities include playing, cleaning the front yard, cooking, baking, stargazing and even camping. But because of the economic demands of society, both parents will have to work full time to achieve a comfortable life for the family. Children are left to care for themselves and miss out on the fun-filled activities that other kids experience with their parents around.

Due to this plight, many institutions have organized and set-up autumn season activities that families can sign and join. Varying dates and time are offered to fit the schedules of the working parents to ensure that it would be a family bonding activity worth remembering. Activity programs are well planned and one may be selective and only join activities that appeal to their family and not all activities thrown at them. And venues for such events are usually near each other, held in parks and other open spaces within the city.

Although the aforementioned information is enticing, there is still one tool that spice up the event, the advertising campaign. We not only hear it on the radio or watch it on television we likewise see a multitude of seasonal flags and banners that line the streets and highways. And one cannot deny fact that such campaign will entice and convince everybody to sign up and enjoy the upcoming autumn festivities.

The season of fall is a much-awaited time of the year because of the Halloween. Kids and grown-ups alike are both excited and thrilled every time the season is near. Some even take time to prepare and organize Halloween activities deemed to encourage people to join in the celebration. Once the organizers post the seasonal flags and the Halloween costumes and designs are available on stores, people begin to talk about the parties that normally abound during the season. Then the Halloween costume plan begins to take shape together with the frightening decorations and house designs. How ironic it is that people take so much time to prepare for only a one-day celebration. Parents spend time sewing their kids scary costume coupled with objects that have been purchased in stores. Grown-ups find old clothes and turn it into scary ones topped with black make-up.

Considering the wayward effect that Halloween brings, companies and organizations have come up with activities that would surely entice a number of spectators. One of the most common activities is the Halloween costume party where the best attire is given special prizes, and both parents and children do their scary best to get the coveted prize. Since these parties abound during the season, participants need not look far just follow seasonal Halloween flags that are posted on every street corner.

Race Car drivers are often always referred to as risk takers because their sport requires them to put their life in the brink every time they set foot on the track. True, because there are still other sports that they can indulge in that does not put their lives and limb at risk. But what drives these racers to pursue the sport? Part of it may come from the perceived adrenalin rush that they feel every time they compete. And another may come from their desire to beat all the odds and prove to themselves and others as well that the sport isn't as dangerous as it seems.

But what some of us have come to realize is that racers are not only doing it because of their love of the sport but also because it allows their minds to work and push it to the limits. Simply saying, the sport allows one person to be a thinking machine since every decision should be precise and abruptly made or else you'll lose the game.

So how do racers become thinking machines? Whenever a racer enters a competition, he becomes one with his car. Whatever problem arises during the game, he is on his own and he must be certain with his every decision. And since it is a game, there are flaws that cannot be avoided thus it is necessary for racers to think ahead. Every obstacle that racers encounter is conveyed to them through racing flags that are waved hundreds of meters away, to give them time to think on their next move. A wrong decision would cost them their careers or even their lives.

A number of people have been wondering why there are numerous rainbow flags found in the San Francisco streets. For first time visitors, they would probably conclude that a feast has been celebrated while others would presume that it's a symbol of one's support to some sports activities or school festivities nearby. And there are some who would incline the flag as a religious representation since the rainbow symbolizes God's promise to Noah that He will never again flood the earth. But then, neither of the mentioned beliefs fit the true representation of the rainbow flag.

Rainbow flags, also known as pride flags , actually represent the gay community. The six colors that we see correspond to specific ideals wherein red and orange is to life and healing; yellow and green for the sun and serenity with nature; blue and violet harmony and spirit. Collectively, these colors embody the colorful lifestyle of the homosexuals that most of us refuse to accept and understand. Only if we take some time to do away with our resistance towards their gender choices, we can see that these individuals are ordinary citizens just like any man or woman. We simply have opposing beliefs that is why we tend to persecute them. But there's nothing we can do about that because like any other human being, they strive to make a difference in this world and they should be given a chance. And since they take pride in hanging these flags in front of their houses, then we might as well respect their belief and choices, the same way that they respect ours.

In the earlier times, flags were only seen during special events such as fiestas, parades and national Flag Day. It had been customary for all people to post and wave these on those occasions because it symbolizes one's involvement and appreciation. But through time, the appearance and purpose of flags have evolved perhaps for the better. Flags have become bolder and we practically see it everywhere. And today, it has become one of the most effective advertising tools in the industry.

Whenever there are store openings and upcoming events, we see flags in every street corner. And when there are gatherings, we almost always see flags fluttering. But have you ever wondered why companies and organizations spend a large amount of money for these, considering the advancement in technology? Why don't they just advertise through text messages or email? The answer is simple. Flags can easily catch the attention of every passerby, it is practically cheaper and less time consuming compared with other advertising tools such as news paper and mail. With just one flag, you get to convey your message to a number of people and it can even reach other people from afar because of its size. Plus it brings a different effect on those onlookers because the messages written are easily kept in the minds and a number are by far convinced even if they haven't tried the product. And a large number of those who saw the advertisement would end up purchasing the product once they see it displayed on stores especially when no other competing brand is available.

Bowhead Banners are new to most of us because we oftentimes see these on beaches and other fun affairs that we attend to. Normally, these flags serve as decorations of the aforementioned events. Some are aligned at the entrance gates. Others are placed in front of stores in an area where they can be easily seen. Still others are used as markers for certain activities such as games. It is no surprise then that twirler flags would end up as advertising mediums. But then again one may still ask, why choose twirler flags over other advertising mediums? First of all, it is very attractive and thus it will capture the most number of onlookers. Second, its set-up is very pleasing to the eye because it is light and dances every time it is touched by the wind. And since it is very lightweight, advertisers can practically bring it to any location without the hassle since it can easily be assembled and dismantled.

Can Wave Banners be used in other venues such as parties and other sports events? As opposed to other beliefs that these are only fitting for beach events, it can be used as decorations for other activities as well. In fact, some golf organizers and sponsors have set-up twirler flags in their games and this proved to be a very effective advertising tool. Even some big companies who are launching new products have used twirler flags to inform people about their latest brand. Considering the effect that twirler flags have on people, it is without a doubt that in the next months or years, we'll see these in every street corner.

In this age and time, advertising is but a critical factor faced by companies and organizations since it seems to dictate the outcome of products and services that will be launched. That is why many spend time, money and effort to make the best and most effective form of advertising to lure its market. But what should be looked upon when deciding on a perfect advertisement? First of all, you must be very knowledgeable with the market you wish to attract, particularly the market's lifestyle and current trends. Make your products and services visible in every place so your presence must be felt and to answer queries from the buying public. Also it would be wise to set up booths and streamers since this will most likely attract speculators. However, be sure to include powerful statements so that the message you wish to convey would be instilled in the minds of the market segment you wish to reach.

But then again, setting up streamers and booths are not enough to catch the attention of the market. Maybe if you're the only booth in the area, you can get the market's attention, but it seldom happens because there will always be competition. You'll be left in the dark when this happens. But don't despair; there are still ways in which you can stand in the crowd. One of the most effective advertising tools of today is the twirler flag . It comes with a stand and a hook that can easily be set-up indoor or outdoor. And since its lightweight, you can move it from one place to another to attract more speculators. Try it on your next advertising campaign.

Ever since the first golf tournament was played, golf flags have stayed in golf courses. So, from Ben Hogan to Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods today, flags have always played an important role in golf tournaments. Although it is only very recently that companies have relentlessly pursued advertisement using this medium.

Golf courses are designed to be different from each other, it is ridden with obstacles like a sandbar, a water pool and lush vegetation to keep golfers on their toes always. When a golfer tees off, he is now at the mercy of the golf flags that serves as warning if a trap or a hazard is just around the bush. Golf flags marks the precise location of the holes and the accompanying traps that perils a golfers performance. So if a golfer overshoots his objective, he could end up among the traps which would be really hard to get out of.

Golf is different from other sports, because the winner is determined depending on the lowest score registered for a four-day tournament. If a golfer shoots an average of 62 daily, almost always he would emerge as the winner. But golf displays erratic patterns, wind velocity could be tame one day and impossible the next, or the greens may act normal but the contrary is observed and humidity also plays a hard part. So, a golfer must dig from his bag of tricks to conquer the course and win the tournament.

Due to the importance of golf flags, manufacturers are likewise egging each other to get the lions share of the supply. We at NorthStar Flags stand by our commitment and reputation, that is why tounament sponsors always look for our brand of service during events.

In England, we often see crests printed on house gates, establishments and statues without even knowing what are those or the importance it signify for people concerned. The existence of these crests began ages ago when rich families where very particular with their status in the society. Needless to say, a crest represents the whole family. It becomes the binding symbol that allows rich men and women to be treated accordingly. However, if one family member proves to be a menace in the society, all else will suffer the same fate. Other noble families tend to shy away and ill-treat every family member they come to interact.

There are likewise lower class men who have established family crests that have been passed on from one generation to the other. Unlike the aristocrats, the family crests represent the good name and honor that every member holds. Wealth and status cannot surpass what the crest symbolizes that is why family members take pride and continue to hold on to what their family is known for.

Today, the legacy of the crests continues to shine among the descendants. Still it dictates one's status in the society and what is expected from the family it embodies. Likewise it remains to give prestige to those concerned. This is the reason why families persist on flaunting their crests to gain the power and fame that it carries.

And together with the uplifting of the family crest, it is encrypted and shown on flags that are posted near a member's property. Family crest flags are even displayed during festivities to inform the people that the family is involved in such endeavor.

Probably the most popular flag that we see on almost every street, in front of buildings, and during special rites is the American flag. This is due to the fact that the majority of Americans takes a lot of pride in their country, its people and its history. We not only see them on posts, but also miniature versions of the American flag, particularly those in cars and windowsills. Also as accessories to clothing, pins, ball pens and notebooks, have patterns with the American tricolor and that it appeals to many. But is it proper for us to purchase and flaunt anything with an American insignia?

There are persons who oppose such actions since we ought to pay respects to our flag.Respect would mean using our flag as a representation of ourselves and a symbol of what we believe and deem right. Thus it is just proper to draw the line and avoid disrespecting our flag. Some equate the importance of a flag as similar to the Bible. The Bible is of course normally found on a place of worship or within a serene environment where the person can pray and meditate. Regardless of whether or not a Christian carries a Bible around, his faith remains intact and strong. The same goes with our flag it is not necessary for us to bring it wherever we go, just to remind us of our duties and responsibilities as Americans.

But then again, we live in a free society and nobody can dictate what we want to do, so long as it does not violate any statutes. If we are pleased with wearing clothes with the American tricolor, then go ahead it is your right. I belieive what matters the most is we are aware and have the knowledge that many died for to have this freedom. Our flag is symbol of who we are as a people and that freedom is not just another word but a living entity that we all must preserve.

They say that the light is our friend in the dark. Of course we know that it's true and we got used to switching the light during the night. But we never outgrew
our amazement whenever we see the beautiful lights embracing the downtown area at night. It seems we are mesmerized by the different set-up done by the government to lure tourists and townsmen into visiting the different shops, restaurants, hotels and museums lurking in the area. With the lights flickering at night, we can't help but admire the beauty that it brings into the cold and opaque night.

But what happens when the night is gone and the sun rises; does the place
become dull and uninteresting? Well, if you've been living in the 1800's the answer is a yes. You'd probably be seeing boring structures and dirty pavements; and you'd be feeling miserable all throughout the day. Since you're living way behind that time, you'd probably be seeing flags and street banners in every pole or in every blank wall of the area. Some of these include
the national flag, shop banner signs, event banners, advertising banners and
seasonal banners.

Although the sound of banners seems uninteresting, you'd be surprised on how these lights up the downtown area during the day. The array of colors and how these are positioned in the area will really catch your attention. Plus it brings a warm and festive atmosphere that appeases everybody. With the existence of a multitude of street pole banners , a day in the downtown area becomes a fun-filled experience.

Nowadays, most people are unaware of the importance of flags in their dailylives. Even some refuse to look over or acknowledge its significance. For instance some Americans no longer take pride nor take to heart whenever the flag is seen in public and especially during ceremonies. True that by placing our right hands on our chest, together with the singing our national anthem, we give honor and respect to our country. But what most of us tend to forget is the true meaning of such action. Why do we have to sing the Star Spangled Banner over and over again? Or why do we have to give our respects to the flag? These are just 2 of the many questions that new generations of Americans must answer.

Our national anthem embodies 2 important characteristics that Americans possess, be brave and free. The American flag on the other hand represents the rights and freedom embodied in the United States Constitution, particularly the Bill of Rights. It likewise symbolizes one's liberty as stated in the tenets of the Declaration of Independence. This only tells us that it is important for us to know the significance of these symbols because it shows the kind of person that we are, what we have become and what is expected of us.

Considering the great symbolism that our national anthem and flag represent, it is but proper for us Americans to sing with pride and gratification. And whenever we see our flag, take time to look, ponder intimately and feel how wonderful it is
to be an American.
