In England, we often see crests printed on house gates, establishments and statues without even knowing what are those or the importance it signify for people concerned. The existence of these crests began ages ago when rich families where very particular with their status in the society. Needless to say, a crest represents the whole family. It becomes the binding symbol that allows rich men and women to be treated accordingly. However, if one family member proves to be a menace in the society, all else will suffer the same fate. Other noble families tend to shy away and ill-treat every family member they come to interact.


There are likewise lower class men who have established family crests that have been passed on from one generation to the other. Unlike the aristocrats, the family crests represent the good name and honor that every member holds. Wealth and status cannot surpass what the crest symbolizes that is why family members take pride and continue to hold on to what their family is known for.


Today, the legacy of the crests continues to shine among the descendants. Still it dictates one's status in the society and what is expected from the family it embodies. Likewise it remains to give prestige to those concerned. This is the reason why families persist on flaunting their crests to gain the power and fame that it carries.


And together with the uplifting of the family crest, it is encrypted and shown on flags that are posted near a member's property. Family crest flags are even displayed during festivities to inform the people that the family is involved in such endeavor.
