Friday, August 29, 2014
People have different hobbies and there are those who like to collect
custom flags. Flag collections are not very common compared to others
like coin collections, painting collections or stamp collections, but
these are just as enjoyable as any other.

Some people even study flags. The approach is known as vexillology and
many people like the hobby because it is very challenging to have
flags of all types and designs. The flags also come in different
shapes, colors and sizes so these are harder to gather. You cannot
easily mail flags at the post office, compared to stamps and coins.
These are also heavier and some countries are quite strict in their
laws about exporting or bringing in new flags. Flags can also be
misinterpreted at times because these hold a lot of political meaning.
Now, collecting flags has gotten more convenient with the presence of
the internet. People can order and get flags of any type and can even
customize these accordingly on various websites.

Flags may be available in different sizes but there is a right term
for each component. Collectors are very familiar with these terms and
you can learn more about each from reliable sources.

The pole is the staff where the flag is lifted up. It is often called
a flagpole. The edge of the flag right next to the flagpole is the
hoist. It refers to the vertical length of the flag. Opposite the
hoist is the fly. It also refers to the horizontal length of the

banner.

Everyday, people like to go to the market and other public places
just to showcase American Flags of various sizes and types. During
special national holidays like Independence Day or Veteran’s Day,
these flags come to life and are available in the thousands. Some
people choose to get these in bulk so they can turn in a profit at the
right opportunity. Many people make good business out of flag
reselling or designing.

Wholesale American flags come in various types and dimensions. There
are miniature versions that children like to wave while watching
parades and Fourth of July shows. These small flags are also great as
souvenirs or party favors. When you are preparing for an Independence
Day party, getting these miniature banners are ideal for your guests.
The bigger flags are also great as souvenir items. People prefer the
printed versions, which are cheaper. The sewn versions are quite
expensive but look better. Full-size flags grab more attention than
the smaller ones.

Getting flags in bulk will be to your advantage if you belong to the
film industry. You can find several wholesale military flags,
international flags, pirate flags and state flags when going to online
shops and flag sellers. If you are shooting a movie or documentary,
you will need to prepare some flags to make the scenes more convincing
and realistic. Getting these in wholesale will also save your more
cash in the long run. Movie makers approach warehouses that have

hundreds of these ready for any type of movie.

One of the most recognizable flags in the world would probably be the
flag of the United States of America. No matter what size the American
flag is, big or small, it is easy to recognize. Just be seeing the
stars and stripes, it is impossible to make a mistake that it is a
flag of other countries.

Aside from the fact that it has a total of fifty stars and thirteen
blue and white horizontal stripes, there are more to the American flag
than just that.  The flag of America has several nicknames such as the
Old Glory, Star-Spangled Banner, and Stars and Stripes.

The flag must only be displayed at certain times of the day. For
example, it must be raised to its pole as the sun begins to rise and
must be brought down before night time comes. It is displayed only
when there is daylight. However, the flag can be displayed up to
twenty-four hours as long as the flag is well light at night. When bad
weather comes, like storm, then the flag must be retrieved.

When the flag of America is showed in an upside-down position it gives
a different meaning. It means that the country is in danger and needs
help. This is actually applies to all of the country flags. If a
country is under war, it is common to see their country flags
displayed upside-down.

The American flag was first recognized as the symbol of USA by France.
This was when the time France assisted the USA fought for its
independence over Great Britain during the War of Independence.

Do you know that when using the American flag there is an existing
Flag Code that must be strictly followed? This is an instruction or a
protocol that serves as a guideline on when and how to use the
American Flags regardless where and who will use them. It even
includes a guideline how to dispose them. There are general guidelines
but if it will be used for a state level, more specified guidelines
and treatment must be followed. Each state Flag Code may vary,
however, out of fifty states in the US around forty-eight have laws
about desecration. The qualification whether a flag is desecrated or
not varies between states. But what they have in common is by
involving a strict punishment if the American flag is talked about
negatively. There are many laws about desecration and it can be
impractical to memorize all, so below are some general information
when treating the American flag.

The flag must be misused for offensive means or desecrate it. This is
not limited to the American flag itself, but same goes for the state
flags and the Confederate flag. Any signs or acts of defacing or
defiling of a flag or even a thing that resembles a flag will be
punished. The act of satirizing or even speaking of hate may be
considered as desecration for some US states. Desecration or
defacement, for American flags laws, if committed intentionally and
knowingly, or not by accident, will be served with a penalty or

punishment.

occasions, the symbol can also be worn through designs of a bow tie, a
waistcoat with its cufflinks. Private homes can also flaunt the same
symbol through window curtains and table runners. For ladies, the

skimpy as female underwear, like thongs.

The flag of Morocco was first adopted in 1956. People might notice
that the flag today still looks very much the same as it was in 1666.
The banner has a red field with a green star and black border. The
size of the star compared to the dimensions of the banner itself has a
ratio of 2:3. There are several versions available for the present
flag. There is one version where you will notice the civil symbol on
the upper left portion. There is another version where the civil
ensigns are found on all corners. The ensign symbol appears in yellow
and appears like a crown with lone star at the top.

If you research more on the history of Morocco, the flag actually
stands for the royal bloodline of people originating way back to the
Prophet Muhammad. The descendants of the great prophet were related to
Fatima, the wife of Ali. Red is a dominant color on the flag because
it holds a lot of meaning for the Imams of Yemen and the Mecca
Sharifs. The flag three hundred years ago was also red but without a
star. The banner was used to represent the forefathers of Morocco.
In 1915, the country changed government and Mulay Yusuf became the
nation’s leader. Yusuf chose to add the Seal of Solomon on the banner,
which was green and bright. The seal looked like an interlaced star.
The Seal of Solomon has six points at first and was also called the
Star of David. During World War I, the flag was changed to feature

only five points.

When people discuss the American flag, they often refer to it in other
names such as “Starry Banner” or “Old Glory”. The flag is one of the
most recognized around the globe, which is why individuals usually
stop to appreciate what it stands for. The United States is one of the
most powerful nations on earth. World leaders recognize the stars and
stripes because it symbolizes power, independence and democracy. The
national flag is one of the country’s most valuable treasures. The
design may be simple for some but there is a lot of meaning behind it.
The 50 stars stand for the 50 states while the 13 stripes stand for
the first states that supported the Union.

Why does the American flag hold a lot of meaning?
The United States has transformed itself into one of the most powerful
nations in the world since the pioneers first signed the Declaration
of Independence in 1776. The United States was then freed from British
rule. The USA is a model for other countries that eventually gained
their freedom from foreign rule too. The independence of the country
has been stated formally in the United States Constitution. The banner
is important in lifting the spirit of Americans everywhere especially
during hard times. It stands for principles and virtues like pride,
liberty and equality. The flag also commemorates the sacrifices made
by the forefathers of the country and how people gave up their lives

just to establish independence. It is a symbol of peace overall.

Many people have heard of the Flag Code but do not truly know the
rules that govern. For many American citizens, flying American Flags
may seem like an ordinary routine, but there are actually rules on
where these should be displayed and how these must be raised or
lowered each time. There are even rules on how to properly dispose of
the banners. The bottom line is to always treat the flag with utmost
respect. States have varying laws on how the flag should be treated
but there are also penalties when people are caught disrespecting or
desecrating the flag. People are not expected to memorize all the laws
but they should at least have some concern on the proper handling of
flags.
Many states have specific rules on how the American or state flag must
be treated. There are specific penalties for violators found to deface
or vandalize the flag. Some states do not allow the American flag or
design to be used or printed on other items like underwear, blankets
or towels. Some state laws may require violators to pay a huge fine
for being found guilty of desecrating the national banner.

It is equally important to know the proper definition of a flag to
determine whether or not you are treating it properly. American flags
are present on top of flagpoles in most government buildings and even
in front of homes and offices. Some of these appear in smaller

versions but should still be given the same level of respect.

Many people still have not gotten over the World Cup. Since the
tournament is one of the most celebrated in sports, it is only normal
for the biggest fans to share their interest and support by decorating
their homes or room. There are plenty of accessories and items to
present to show your passion for a particular World Cup team. The
Union Jack is one of the most displayed items in Great Britain
especially when the World Cup comes around. People put the symbol and
colors on mugs, hats, shirts, posters, underwear and other kinds of
items to share the craze.

Many times, people gather at sports bars and restaurants to watch a
World Cup game while wearing their favorite Jack Union accessory. It
might be a scarf, bow tie, waistcoat or hat. Some even bring small or
giant flags to the venue or put these outside their house or window to
let others know which player or team they support. Women like to put
the symbol on their skirts or paint their faces with the design of the
British flag.

Women can be very creative when displaying their support for the
British team. Others even border on the extreme by wearing Union Jack
bras, mini-skirts and bathing suits.
The theme of the flag is very ideal and stylish to put on different
items like towels, plates, cups or car stickers. People like to put
these almost anywhere to show how loyal they are to their sports team
as well as their country.
