Do you know that when using the American flag there is an existing
Flag Code that must be strictly followed? This is an instruction or a
protocol that serves as a guideline on when and how to use the
American Flags regardless where and who will use them. It even
includes a guideline how to dispose them. There are general guidelines
but if it will be used for a state level, more specified guidelines
and treatment must be followed. Each state Flag Code may vary,
however, out of fifty states in the US around forty-eight have laws
about desecration. The qualification whether a flag is desecrated or
not varies between states. But what they have in common is by
involving a strict punishment if the American flag is talked about
negatively. There are many laws about desecration and it can be
impractical to memorize all, so below are some general information
when treating the American flag.

The flag must be misused for offensive means or desecrate it. This is
not limited to the American flag itself, but same goes for the state
flags and the Confederate flag. Any signs or acts of defacing or
defiling of a flag or even a thing that resembles a flag will be
punished. The act of satirizing or even speaking of hate may be
considered as desecration for some US states. Desecration or
defacement, for American flags laws, if committed intentionally and
knowingly, or not by accident, will be served with a penalty or

punishment.
