During the 25th anniversary of the rainbow flag in 2003, several gay pride celebrations were observed. There were street parades where lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender joined in wearing colorful clothing together with the marching of pride flags. Shows and other presentations were likewise offered to all people who are interested to watch and learn. And what made the celebration more exciting was that the original eight-striped pride flag was displayed. A lot of people were delighted to see the original pride flag raised yet it was not good enough to change the preference of the LGBT to changing their six-striped color pride flag.

The pride flag which originally started in United States, is a worldwide known symbol today. There are even several variations made including that of the 'lambda,' a Greek letter, imprinted in white and positioned in the middle of the flag and either a pink or black triangle in the upper left corner. Several colors where likewise added such as a black stripe which represents the LGBT members who died of AIDS. Also in gay alterations of national and regional flags where oftentimes the red and white stripes of the American flag is replaced by the rainbow colors of the pride flag. And in 2007, a new variation of the flag was introduced, the Pride family flag, where it features the current LGBT flag of six-stripes with additional elements of a heart and home in the canton of the flag. This flag symbolizes how far the LGBT community has reached its goal of being accepted in the society as well as being parents and becoming a family.
