When you play golf, you have to start from the tee and aim for the hole. The player who successfully shoots the ball with the fewest strokes wins. Putting is an important aspect of the game. You can drop 5 or 6 balls from a distance of 4 to 5 feet. The goal is to get a straight putt as well as some uphill. Look for the putting green flag and aim to put the ball into the cup. You should make as many shots as possible. Focus on three main things when trying to improve your golfing skills. These include the setup, the swing and the follow through. You should concentrate on the shot and eliminate all other distractions.

If you wish to be fully appreciated on the golf course, you have to understand some of the basic rules and guidelines that will present you as a respectable and good-mannered golfer.

1. When standing near the hole, you have to take out the flag over the cup before putting.

2. If other players are trying to locate the hole, do not remove the putting green flag. This is very important for other golfers to get in the right position. Wait until all players are on the putting green before removing the flag.

3. According to golf etiquette guidelines, it is proper to tend the hold if other players are putting. You can stand close to the putting green flag and then take it out after the player has struck the ball and the ball is moving closer to the hole. Make sure that you or your shadow does not get in the way of the ball or shot.

4. Always dress well when playing golf. Collared shirts are recommended whether you’re on the course or in the club.

5. Take care of divots that you see on the grass, whether these are yours or another player’s. Some golf players tend to forget to cover these. Cover the spot with sand or dirt for grass to re-grow.

Golf is widely known for being a game for gentlemen because of the way players dress and their behavior on the golf course. When you play golf, you should also be aware of these basic rules on manners for the benefit of others. You also have to familiarize yourself with the various features of the golf course such as putting green flags, golf flags, slopes, strokes and other instruments for playing. You have to be mindful of other players to be fully appreciated in every game. You should think about the safety of other people as well and aim to make yourself a helpful and fun part of the game. Once you start practicing these, you will discover that more golf players are willing to play.

Avoid making unnecessary noises or jerky movements as the other player is planning or making a shot. Give them enough time to think about their stroke and stay at a good distance for them to concentrate.

Let the low-scoring player tee off first in the next hole.

Beginning golf players will find it very helpful to study and research some of the basic elements and parts of the golf course. 

The main areas include the putting green, the tee box, rough, fairway, golf fairway, hazard spots and green side sand bunkers. 

The putting green is especially important because it is the final area of the golf hole and also contains the putting green flag that indicates where exactly the cup or hole is located.

The cup is contained in the putting green which is characterized by clean-cut grass all around. 

When playing an 18-hole golf course, players are expected to finish all 18 putting greens starting from the first hole. 

Only by finishing the hole can players move on to the next course.

The layout of the golf course will determine the proper slope and speed to drive the pole straight into the putting green or hole. 

Some courses require fast speeds while others can be completed using slower speeds. Everything depends on the surface and slope.

The slope refers to the breaking point in which the golf ball will roll left or right when going for the hole. 

Beginners will be challenged by this aspect of the game especially when putting from a distance. 

Some balls are known to break “left to right” or vice versa. 

This describes the tendency of the ball to start rolling left at first and then going to the right gradually. 

The breaking point is challenging to determine on some courses. 

Putting green flags are ideal companions and will make it easier for players to aim for the hole.
