Wednesday, October 31, 2012

The POW or MIA ( Missing In Action) flag represents a lot about the United States of America. Whenever you see the flag with the black and white design showcased beside a path or a street, you should try to contemplate on its true meaning. In the past, men and women offered their lives to ensure that future generations enjoy independence and the joys of having a free state. Being a prisoner of war is never easy and there are so many horror stories about the people who suffered just so Americans can live freely.

One of the most unique characteristics of a POW or a MIA flag is the absence of a trademark. Anyone can make the flag. Annin & Co. made and created the banner in 1970. The company wished to share the design to anyone so they did not bother to trademark it. Any flag maker can actually come up with the flag and market these without having to pay extra costs.

The POW or MIA flag has a number of unique guidelines. Below are some of the features and traits of the flag whenever you think of displaying one.

1. When presenting the POW or MIA flag on the same pole as the United States flag, the size has to be slightly smaller than the national banner. It should also be positioned beneath the American flag.

2. When you feature the POW or MIA flag to be included on two flagpoles, you can showcase it using a single flagpole or below the national flag.
