The American flag flies to show that there is a rich history behind its creation. Some of the virtues that should be remembered include freedom, courage, democracy and truth so that every person in the United States may live freely and independently.

Regardless of the political party that each individual sides with or if one agrees or disagrees with the circumstances in the Middle East, American soldiers are risking their lives daily and should be given utmost importance.

Many of the soldiers are troops and reserves of the National Guard coming from different states. They have been called and ordered to be sent to the war zone. These are the very people who are laying out their lives and serving the country. The more important thing to note is that they are doing it with willingness to serve. It’s important to also portray courage and support the military by displaying the national flag each day.

Keep in mind that the United States flag should be handled with care and reverence. The flag stands for a living nation and should also be regarded as a living being.

The flag should be featured with the blue union portion up.

The flag should be held with full care and it should not touch anything from underneath.

The flag should stay up and free. It should not be flown horizontally.

The flag should be kept clean all the time. It should not be shown damaged or tattered.

The U.S. flag was actually adopted on June 14, 1777. It is the fourth oldest national flag worldwide. Our national flag will be displayed next on Labor Day on September 6.
