Maybe you have already seen the twirling and spinning of groups in the road everytime there's a rally or parade. That is called a pep squad which is not only a form of entertainment but also a sport. In this sport, the players use twirler flags. In fact, because of this sport’s sexiness, it is the reason why it was chosen and included on Hollaback Girl’s music video by Gwen Stefani.

How to do it?

Bi-twirler flags are used to make routines for this sport. One of the most popular competitions when it comes to this sport is Miss Dance Drill or Team USA of the United Spirit Association (USA) Regionals and Nationals. Competitors of this sport are from grade school to college, and are mostly Californian kids and adults. Twirler flags or the flag twirling sport is also gaining popularity in other places in the world.

The school team that made it into the Gwen Stefani’s Halloback Girl music video is none other than Carson High School that was able to hold the USA competitions title thrice. In addition, the said most adorned flag team was Channel Islands High School which is also a three time USA national champion title holder.

Routines

The same as cheerleading pyramids, kick lines are also present and flag twirling. However, unlike cheerleading, the most important routine that the judges look is how the participants twirl, toss and exchanges the twirler flags.

All in all, flag twirling is a sport that can entertain and can provide a smile to a lot of people who participates on it and most especially to the spectators.
