Do you know that the United States Army had two sets of official flags? Though both flags are only displayed indoors, it could also be classified as the official emblem during parades and special celebrations.

At the onset the Army flag had been created white with a yellow fringe all around and with the insignia of the army - a trophy of armor, weapons and flags which was a replica of the seal of the Department of Army and the color is in ultramarine blue. On the upper part of the flag is the Army motto "This we'll defend" and below the insignia is a red scroll with the "United States Army" written across it in white. And also the official birth of the Army in 1775 is added beneath the scroll in blue tint. So, during special events the flag is carried together with the National Color and a bunch Army campaign streamers that commemorate all official involvement of the department - from its inception, to the first World War, to the Persian Gulf and recently Iraq and Afghanistan.

Can you imagine how many campaigns the United States Army had been involved so far? From its birth to the present, it's countless and to think that each campaign is all represented by commemorative flags of varying colors. Then a complete set of these official flags would cost so much, considering that each campaign streamer have the insignia embroidered.

To make matters as simple as possible, the United States Army had to revise their flag preference. They still aped the original design but the color combination had been changed, the new flag is now in ultramarine blue and the insignia in white but still with the yellow fringe and campaign streamers are no longer authorized.
