Even if flag dancing can be a the same with Maori Poi dance and the Hawaiian fire dancing, still custom flags creates a different momentum and is really different from poi, since poi utilizes weight and length of the string to execute a movement, and on the other hand, the flags natural surface is what the flag dancing is doing.
