The Welsh Flag is distinct from other national flags because of its two horizontal halves. The upper half is white while the lower half is green. The middle of the Welsh flag has a red dragon. It is known to be one of the oldest national symbols in the world. Through the years, people have made stories or passed down legends regarding the creation and essence of the flag.

Many people know that the Welsh Flag came from the House of Tudor, particularly the green and white halves. The House of Tudor used to rule the English monarchy from 1485 to 1603. The dragon is even believed to stem from Henry Tudor, who was known to be the official heir from the traditional kings of Britain and rightful ruler. His victory was credit to the people and in return, he included the dragon in the middle of the flag. Other stories say that the Romans who conquered the land several years ago introduced the dragon symbol. Even though several stories are present regarding the creation of the Welsh flag, it is never disputed that it brings out national pride and patriotism among citizens. Writers, poets, artists and scholars constantly include the colors and symbols in many of their works to show their love and respect for the country.
