Choose the size of the flag that will be contained inside a flag display case so that you can properly fit the material inside. The usual dimensions include 5 x 9 feet, 3 x 5 feet and 4 x 6 feet for burial ceremonies.

For the bottom, the measurement is usually 24 inches. The diagonal measurement will be 16.75 inches and the thickness is 2.75 inches.

Also consider the kind of wood you like to use for the container. For example if you are getting oak:

The quarter of a piece of oak usually measures 3.5 inches wide which is acceptable. Get one measuring 8 feet long. This is great for beginners to minimize mistakes.

If the flag has a triangle shape, you have to cut the angles by 45 degrees. Use the right tool such as a miter saw or circular saw to provide you with very fine and accurate cuts.

The bottom of the flag will measure 24 inches, which makes the inner measurement of the cuts about 24 inches as well. Cut along the board at 24.25 inches.

You also need about 6 feet of board remaining. The wood will feature the grain pattern so follow the following steps to get the best look for the flag case.

The longest part of the angled 6-foot board should also be measured. This will provide you with the long point of the angle. The opposite will be the short point.

The angled dimensions will be 16.5 inches from one short point to the other.
