For world flags, there are some unique designs and noteworthy facts to be noticed. Aside from the rectangular piece of fabric strewn with an assortment of colors and insignias, there is a flag that may be rectangular just like the rest (except for Nepal which has a double triangle design), but has only one color - a plain green color to occupy the whole flag in its entirety. This representation is the official colors by the Libyan flag.

For those who are not yet so familiar with it, here is a brief history leading up to the current flag flown by the country. A revolutionist visionary in the persona of Mu’ammar al Qaddafi overthrew the kingship of former Libya in 1969.

Successful, his influence over the political arena was relatively unopposed and grew over the years. Being a writer as well, he authored the Third International Theory, or the Green Book. This iconic book with its plain color was the supposed reason for the color of the current day Libyan flag. The same ideals of the book which was a solution to the capitalist and communist views as an alternative was embedded in the color of the flag. Plain, simple, and equal, this was supposed to be the ideal case of the socio political state of Libya under his regime.

However, as history has from time and time again proven, the manner in which his regime was gained – through revolution – was the same manner in which he was deposed and overthrown by the NTC fighters. With his regime ended, his influence of the green color for the Libyan flag remains flying proud for the people of his sovereign.
