Many people are unaware that there is a difference between gift certificates and cash vouchers. There is actually a difference between the two.
Cash vouchers and gift certificates are generally the same. These are named cash vouchers in certain parts of the globe. The offer may be different as well as the name but the purpose is similar. Gift certificates are usually a prepaid gift provided by people free of charge. Cash vouchers may involve cash rebates where people can purchase items at a lower price.
If you are still deciding which is the best to give, gift certificates are the answer. These provide more value because the person who initially bought it either paid for the full price for a smaller amount. There are gift cards that allow you to redeem up to $20 even though it is offered only at $15 cash. A voucher usually offers a bigger discount. These may also be usable at selected places like online sites and specialty shops. The person who purchased these might have done so at a very small amount or even for free. The value is basically a discount on an item they should buy.

Many online sites also give away free cash vouchers. The idea is to compel buyers to acquire a larger amount compared to the voucher. Websites actually take a risk by handing out vouchers. The gift might be used by the buyer at other places. There are gift certificates that can be redeemed for services. Some people earn a gift certificate through clicks or registrations on the internet.
