It is quite rare nowadays to see countries at war within its society, or even with the other countries, thanks to the intervention of a greater alliance of concerned nations such as the United Nations to protect each other from oppressive intentions by other countries.

Nevertheless, there are instances wherein these turmoil occur inevitably even with the pacification of the United Nations. Even when faced with the penalties and retribution brought about by the council on the violating state, these war initiating countries found greater cause in sticking by its own intentions rather than adhere to the ideals of the higher council.

When these kinds of wars happen such as the very popularly depicted Gulf War in the Middle East, one may expect military intervention by alliance countries of the oppressed country, as well as other forms of organizational assistance. During news coverage and advisories, one may see a unique flag not carried by any nation or country.

This dark blue flag with a compass of four directions describes the NATO flag. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, comprised mainly of Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, and United Kingdom, was established in 1948 to address the need to protect each other from other opposing countries, which during that time was potentially Russia. Germany at that time has already withdrawn from the war after its defeat in the Second World War.

The ideals and support of the NATO forces still exist until today as soldiers, tanks, and other humanitarian aid are sent to help out any other countries at war.

Though they may be a mix of different nationalities, the people under the service of this organization are united and act without affiliation to any single country, especially their own origin. What is seen with the people of NATO is a combined service of different countries stripped off their identities and brought together under the NATO flag.

Time and time again, this military aid has successfully helped out countries at war and brought about eventual peace.
