Getting from point A to point B isn't as simple as walking around obstacles and getting there. It is more than the shortest route around obstacles. Modern-day specialists of movement can ignore obstacles and perform feats of skill and endurance that would be fatal to the untrained. These are the people who can get from point A to point B through the shortest route possible and survive the forces of the laws of nature.

Free running has always looked cool from the perspective of an observer. It looks easy because they can execute these moves flawlessly and safely. However, when you take a close look, you will find out that attempting to do these stunts could actually maim you if you don’t train for it. After all, you can't just swing around a flagpole and go through a small opening in metal handrails just next to it from a running start. You need an almost supernatural sense of where your body is and where it will be before you can even think of trying this out.

Sometimes, there are more than just obstacles in your way. There could be rifts or spaces that you need to jump across and you will need to be extremely precise with the application of your force and the extent of your leap. These individuals practice by setting up an obstacle course and setting up an ideal route of blank flags. Once they master the basics, they can attempt longer leaps and higher jumps that defy gravity itself.
