In any flagpole installation, you may notice some wedges at the inner part of its floor covering that settles well at the mid part of its foundation. The floor covering has a spike attached to it which functions to direct the lightning away from it.

Aside from the covering also referred to as a ground sleeve, the framework’s foundation also has a band also referred to as its flash collar. It is positioned over the covering or the sleeve in the bottom part to function as a protection against dangerous elements and to provide a trimmed finish. The gap between the flag pole and the flash collar is filled with concrete. It is for the purpose of sealing it so that water will not be able to get inside.

The proper installation of your flag pole is critical and should be given attention for safety purposes. The pole should be installed a few feet below the ground so that enough foundation can support it even during strong winds and other harsh weather conditions.

If you have any difficulty in installing your new flagpoles, it is better to seek the help of the professional installers or better yet, ask your provider if they can do the installation free of charge or at a minimum cost. It is very important to know about your flag pole parts, and proper set up to ensure safety to you and the people around the pole post during harsh weather conditions.
