World flags all have a history. The flag design and colors may all signify something about the nation it represents. People may have gone through a lot just to come up with the flag symbolizing their freedom and unity as a nation. This is the reason why each and everyone should pay utmost respect to any world flag may it be from other nations or not.

Although flags are usually just pieces of cloth with designs printed on it, it should be treated with pride and respect. Disrespecting any national flag such as throwing it away, stepping over it, or tearing it apart especially on a public place does not only destroy the flag itself but steps on the pride of the people represented by that flag. People of that nation will feel insulted that is why there are some policies that one should follow in treating flags, or else there are serious penalties for those that will not abide.

In terms of placement, flags are commonly positioned upright in full mast. It should fully expose the flag design. In times of death by a high public official, a day of national mourning perhaps due to a tragedy or disaster that happens in a nation, the flag is usually raised on half mast. On the other hand, when there is a taking over of a nation, an island, or events like hijacking of ships, the flags are turned upside down to signify danger.

Whatever the world flags stand for, it should be treated with utmost pride, respect, and care. It is the biggest patriotic symbol standing up for a country and its people. Wherever one goes, the flag holds ones identity that he belongs to a nation that is something to be proud of.
