When you are into the sport of golfing, being a top scorer could be a great achievement on one’s life. But do you really know the equipment that can be found on golf courses especially when competitions are being held? Well, let’s take a look at golf flags and learn something about it.

In golf, flagsticks had been used to tag holes for centuries now, but the name flagstick was first utilized on a rules guide in 1875 which was evolved by the so known Royal and Ancient Golf Club, it’s the golf game’s first ever ruling body. And as years went on, the golf courses have elaborated on the specific kinds of flags to help players during the game. But then there is one place wherein you wont really find those flags, it’s the traditional Merion Golf Club situated in Pennsylvania, which is know to be popular because they opt to use small, red baskets placed on the flagsticks top part.

Usually, on professional tours, the golf flags are into its steady colors, being magnified with the tournament’s or the sponsor’s logos. As the USA Golf Association flags, they had been using the simple one, a yellow flags designed with block letters for the numbers of the hole and the name of the tournament. The flags don’t give any mark or indication as well for the location of the hole, the players as well as their designated caddies takes charge in utilizing yardage books and more often than not moved off at the yardages especially during their practice sessions.

As the world revolves, golf courses have also been unfolding different golf flag colors and their meanings that they use for various tournaments.
