Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

Thursday, December 22, 2011
A number of reputable custom flag makers have established themselves in the industry by creating custom flags that have shown to be very effective because of their unique design, attractiveness and durability. True flag manufacturers carefully design each flag and their dedication will be evident in the final work.

There are also a number of standards and guidelines to follow when raising and maintaining the United States flag. For instance, it is recommended to keep the American flag well-lit when it is being flown. It is also practiced to lower the flag from the pole as soon as light fades or disappears, which explains why there are flag lowering activities at the end of the day. Some individuals prefer to keep the flag raised at all times for events or decorative purposes, but provided constant lighting especially at night. Here are some more rules.

The United States flag should not be swayed or lowered to any object or person. It should only be waved upside down to let people know about an emergency situation.

The United States flag should always be clean and repaired if it incurs damage. If the flag cannot be fixed to its original state or beauty, it is common practice to fold and burn it in a special ceremony.

The United States flag must never be in contact with the ground. It is always lowered with utmost care and passed on to a waiting individual without the flag touching anything.

The United States flag must not be changed or vandalized by substituting the design and symbols or writing on it.

The flag's 13 red and white stripes symbolize the first 13 colonies. In 1776, there were 13 stars forming a circle when it was originally designed by Betsy Ross. The design was absorbed one year later as the official American flag by the Continental Congress. This now represents America worldwide.
