Monday, December 19, 2011
Groups that have protests and complaints can rely on message flags to get their thoughts and beliefs to the party they are opposing. These materials can be used to fight different ideas like tyranny, poverty, racism, religious injustice and oppression. The flags have become a very effective tool to attract the government and law enforcing agencies. Even neutral individuals will notice the flags and can understand the message to choose what they wish to fight for too.

National flags are common in protesting parties especially if their claims involve the government and associated political ideas and regulations. Aside from being displayed, complainants can also provide symbols that indicate their interest or disgust over matters by burning the flag, stepping on it, vandalizing or spitting.

Sending the Message

Different complaining parties who wish to show the injustice and practice their rights can design their own special message flags that will present unity, respect and affirmation on the principles and ideas that they wish to stand for. For example, the rainbow flag has become very synonymous to showing respect for the gay community. These are often displayed in parades, protests and gatherings that fight for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and the transgender groups. Another example is the revision of the United States flag, which women displayed to ignite the suffrage movement. The initial American flag only included four stars, which symbolized the only states that allowed females to vote.

Other Groups and Flags

There were flags that were notorious. An example is the Confederate Flag, which was displayed by the Confederate States of America. This occurred in 1861 after the confederate forces separated from the United States. The flag continued to reappear in other occasions to represent divisive groups and ideas. Another controversial flag was used by the dreaded Ku Klux Klan to represent white supremacy. During the Civil Rights period, the message flag was again showcased.
