If you intend to take great photos of a custom flag, learn the proper positions and include the right elements in the shot. You should aim to get clean and dramatic images depending on the situation and weather.
a. When people see the photo, you should see the excitement in their faces.
You can also try taking shots of the people appreciating the flag. Look for real emotions in the picture.
b. Determine whether you intend to make the flag the focal item in the shot or use it as an accessory.
National flags can be shot in different ways. You can make beautiful setups with it in the background. You can also take photos of structures and groups of people surrounding the flag. If you travel frequently, include a photo of a small flag in the background.
c. The flag colours should also be used well.

Determine the best combinations that will match the colours well. The background should complement the banner. The shape and tones of the flag must be brought to life by the surroundings. Putting more than one flag in a single photo can also work well. Look for contrast and adjust the light. Make use of natural light as much as possible.
d. Practice with various angles to get the best images.
Follow the guidelines above then see which ones you like best for a great portfolio.
Whenever you visit a new place, look for their national or custom flag then snap away. Ask the locals about the history of the flag then look for the right structures to include in the image.
