Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

Thursday, June 26, 2014
The national flag comes by many names such as “Old Glory” or “Stars and Stripes”. There are also U.S. State flags which represent the fifty states of America. Each of these flag has special symbols and meanings that represent a particular state.
The State flags are only second to the official flag of the UnitedStates. The American national flag is featured in almost every government building and international events. The state flags, on the other hand, represent the principles, virtues and background of the state.
The stars of the American flag feature the 50 states. From 1777 to1795, 13 stars were featured on the national banner since there were only 13 states then. As more states were added, the stars on the flag also began to grow in number. The total stars now represent each of the state. The states over time also made their own state flag to distinguish one from the next.
For example, the District of Columbia has its own flag which features a couple of stripes and three stars. Puerto Rico, a Commonwealth closely linked to the United States, also has its own flag.
The different government agencies of America also have their own service flags which are displayed by families of members. For example, the Department of Defense has a service flag which is flown by families of soldiers fighting overseas.
The US State flags generally stand for unity and dignity. Together, these show that the United States has become a powerful nation because of the coordination among its states.
