There are actually a number of islands in the region that preserved their natural beauty, offering you an unforgettable experience by showcasing some of the most mysterious natural wonders only found in this side of the world.
Curacao features a special European feel with a mix of the tropics. Willemstad is Curacao’s capital city and has one of the busiest ports, with various ships coming various different countries every week. The place is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. One of the best ways to experience and see Curacao is by going around by foot.
The Queen Emma Bridge is one of the most popular structures in the capital city. It is also known as “Swinging Old Lady” and is the biggest floating pedestrian bridge. Vessels and ships move to and from the harbor as the bridge is opened and closed regularly. The bridge also comes to life at night by featuring an array of lights.
Curacao features a melting pot of races with over 50 nationalities. When you visit, you will discover that people speak various languages and also share their culture in the area. You will enjoy a variety of local delicacies and culture. The white beaches are especially captivating and there are limestone cliffs that go high up over the Caribbean Sea. You will definitely enjoy various beach activities and sports during your visit. Also take time to witness pink flamingos and a variety of aquatic animals. Christoffel National Park is also open for tourists, presenting 4,500 acres of natural attractions.
You will find the prices of accommodations, food and transportation very reasonable in Curacao. The island is located outside the hurricane belt, so you do not have to worry about the weather.
Dominica is another place that you should not miss when visiting the Caribbean. It is well known for being green, because of its beautiful and well-preserved environment. You can enjoy watching exotic birds, unique plants and other marine animals like whales and dolphins. There are also many water sports and activities to experience like scuba diving, snorkeling and kayaking. Dominica is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and there are 365 rivers inland.
Dominica also has 10 active volcanoes although these have not erupted in over a millennium. Visit Morne Trois Piton National Park to see the second biggest boiling lake in the world. The place is also referred to as a World Heritage Site. The Valley of Desolation, Soufriere Sulfur Springs and Trafalgar Falls are other famous tourists spots where you can try bathing in naturally warm water.
Volcanoes are also located under the sea around Dominica. This explains why some areas feature warm and bubbly water.
Finally, take time to visit St. Vincent. and The Grenadines There are over 30 beautiful islands to visit. People particularly like the clear blue waters, wide array of tropical fish and lush greenery. St. Vincent is the biggest island in the entire chain. Its capital city is Kingstown and you will find hints of the Caribbean’s colonial past through the cobblestone streets and stone structures.
