Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

Monday, September 21, 2015

Flagpoles may not be present in every house you see in the United States, but these can be very useful if you are a patriot. The flags will tell everyone that you love your country and intend to feature banners and other symbols that represent your principles and national pride. Regardless of the purpose, flagpoles will generally be categorized into residential, commercial and telescopic use.

Residential flagpoles may come in various sizes, although some types will not tolerate strong winds and storms well. The commercial types are more durable and can last against outdoor elements better. These may measure anywhere between 6 feet and 35 feet. The height of the pole will also affect its strength. Taller flagpoles tend to be weaker compared to shorter ones against the wind. Commercial flagpoles also have one section that provides it the needed strength. Many are created to last against external factors. Telescopic flagpoles can also be fixed so that these can be lengthened or shortened accordingly. The feature will also increase its retail price, because of the added strength.

What to Find in a Flagpole

The height of a pole will be based on a person’s own perspective and needs. You have to consider the sections because having more will mean having a lot of weaker portions. Similar to a gutter system, the sectional ones are more prone to leaks. The same method applies to flagpoles although these generally apply to wind protection, compared to gutters remaining stable when handling water.

Next, check the halyard system because it allows the flag to be raised and lowered. An external halyard is the rig found on the outer portion of the pole, while an internal system is built inside. The two will be useful accordingly, but you have to choose the right location to set up the pole or it becomes prone to vandalism and damage.

There are also in-ground, wall-mount and nautical flagpoles that you should be concerned of. Many poles are in-ground but feature smaller flags. These may also have inadequate space, so you might opt for wall-mounted types. These kinds will not fly large banners as effectively and will be better for advertising purposes and gardening. Nautical poles are intended for ports and harbors. Many flags can even be featured on one flagpole only.

Flagpoles are made of aluminum usually, because these can be prone to moisture and heat. These will not rust quickly and last a long time too. If you are aiming for an expensive type, there are fiberglass poles that offer various advantages. You should first review the weather conditions in your community. Aluminum poles are recommended for windy places. Fiberglass is better for locations where there is acid rain to prevent rusting.

Fiber glass will offer several options, although the most common is white. Other finishes include gold, black, bronze and silver.

You can also add decorations to the flagpoles to make these look more attractive. There are pole toppers that add to the overall aesthetics. You may mount an eagle, ball, star or cross at the peak.
