Flagpoles may not be present in every house in the United States but these are ideally placed by people who want to show respect to their nation and feature their sense of nationalism. Showing a flag in front of your office or house is a great way to share to others how much you love your country. Your example may also motivate them to do the same. Flagpoles are generally categorized into three, namely commercial, residential and telescopic use.
Residential flagpoles will come in various sizes but these are generally not as tough and sturdy compared to the commercial type. The residential type can range anywhere between six and 35 feet. Taller poles tend to be flimsier and are less tolerable to winds and outdoor elements. Commercial flagpoles usually feature one section that is quite strong, so that these last against gusts and storms. Telescopic flagpoles can be adjusted in terms of length. You can make it longer on good days and reduce the length during storms to protect it from strong wind.
Checking the Flagpole
The height of a flagpole will depend on the user. Some flags have several sections, but you should understand that more sections will equate to less strength. Sectional types of a gutter system are equally prone to leakage, so apply the same concept with flagpoles. You have to deal with wind instead of water when comparing gutters and flagpoles.
Next, check the halyard system because it lets the flag taller or shorter. The outer halyard features a rig outside the pole while an internal system is already built within. The two will perform well but you have to look for a great place to set up first. Otherwise, the pole might be vandalized or destroyed. Getting an internal halyard is preferred by many.
There are also in-ground, wall-mount and nautical kinds of poles. Majority of poles are set up in-ground but preparing smaller flags or lack of space might mean that you need wall-mounted types. These will not feature large flags and are better for advertising and gardening purposes. Nautical flagpoles are good for docks and harbors. Several flags can even be displayed on one flagpole.
Most flagpoles are made of aluminum to protect these from heat and moisture. These will not rust easily and will last a long time. If you are looking for a more expensive kind, the fiberglass type is also good. Check the weather in your area and pick the right type accordingly. Aluminum flagpoles are best in areas with a lot of wind and for people who wish to save more. Fiberglass poles are ideal for places where acid rain falls. There are also color options for both types like black, silver, white and bronze.

By adding decors and ornaments, you can improve the look of flagpoles. Some setups include toppers which can come in various figures and colors. Some of the usual toppers present birds, stars, crosses and many more. There are also flagpoles with a bulb on top, which will illuminate the banner at night. The light should be installed by a professional.
