There are times that things just happen and you don't have any choice but to act on them immediately just so you can control the damage that could be done. Failure to act immediately could result to the loss of lives and damage to property. This is why any good crisis management team will set up two perimeters around the crisis zone. The first perimeter is the control zone or the damage restriction zone. This simply means that the damage must not reach that perimeter. The second perimeter is the personnel restriction zone. This is where civilians need to be kept away from. The crisis teams use different kinds of danger flags to set up that perimeter.

Once the perimeter is set up, crisis teams can focus on dealing with whatever is doing the damage. The thing is, these teams don't really make it out unscathed. After all, they willingly put themselves in harm's way. And since they can't control everything that happens in the danger zone, some of them won't come out of it at all. Since they gave their lives to save others, they have to be remembered. This is why they have different kinds of mourning flags set up in their departments. After all, that is the best way to honor them.

Crises aren't hopeless scenarios. They are there to remind us that there are people who are willing to do everything they can to save lives and prevent further damage. These are the people who should be remembered.
