A custom flag or custom banner has various functions among people and groups. In most cases, these are displayed to identify a person, a group or place of origin. It also presents pride and morale among the men carrying it.

A dye-sublimation technique is used on modern flags and banners that are printed digitally. The process involves fusing the ink and substrate with heat so that images are richer, fuller and more detailed compared to traditional printing styles. The image is of very good quality that it almost goes fully to the other side of the fabric. UV resistant inks are also used to create digital flags. These are very ideal for outdoor displays.

Customized flags and banners have a vital role throughout history. Although its first presence is unrecorded, many historians say that the first flags were introduced by the Chinese or Romans. Its first purpose in ancient times was to point out military leaders and army rulers.

When Christopher Columbus was sailing new territory, it was common for ships to bring flags to be identified by other explorers and vessels. This became standard practice among ships and until now, custom flags are used for maritime and national purposes. These are always present in different occasions in the national or state level. It is now common for companies to use custom banners to market products and create a brand.
