Small, personal shelters which are fully portable and easily setup are more commonly referred to as pop-up custom canopies. There are standard commercial sizes which range from 5’ x 5’ square to a rectangular 10’ x 20’.
In the most basic setup, the canopy package is composed of two parts, the frame and the top. The frame is usually made of aluminum or steel poles, and situated later on the four corners, forming the edges for the canopy top to be placed on. While steel are ideally sturdier and cheaper than aluminum, they take the most effort to carry, given that they are significantly heavier. The canopy top is usually made of fire and water resistant fabric with at least 500 denier rating for it to be durable enough for the outdoors.
The canopies themselves come in different colors. Blue, red, black, white, yellow, or any other, these are just the basic ones available. Custom color and layout schemes may be considered for the manufacturer to create to suit a specific event or theme. Some methods used to place prints on these canopies are with silkscreen methods or digital printing. This allows advertisers and promoters to capitalize on the idea and used these canopy surfaces to extend their advertising and promotions.
Pop-up custom canopies have become more popular for small time businesses to shelter their wares, and have been seen more and more frequently in bazaars and community events wherein floor area is quite restricted per business.
