An organization is composed of people grouped together and is established for a certain purpose. This is a distinctive cluster of people and one good way to represent an organization is to have an organizational flag.  A flag may be a cliché but it is an important representation of a person, place or a group. Having one is an effective way to make an organization known and be promoted to the public. But in making an organizational flag you will need to sit down and think how to conceptualize its design.
There are five principles or guidelines shared by flag experts on how to create the right flag for your organization.
The simpler the better. The most effective form of branding is when it can be easily remembered by the public. Think of the most popular brands, you will notice that their logo designs are simple. A flag design must be simple that a kid can draw it.
Significance of symbols. The colors, patterns and markings must signify what the organization is about. This makes the flag effective as a representation.
Choose few colors. Limit the colors to be used. It is better to stick to basic colors but the combinations to contrast.
Avoid letters. Although many flags includes letters or words but this may overcome the purpose of a flag as a minimalist type of representation. Thus, it is difficult to read texts from a distance.
Be unique. Distinction from other flags is highly recommended. That is what an organizational flag is about, which must be identified from other organizations.
