There are flag poles which have their parts and components situated and mounted inside the shaft. Unlike old and traditional poles which have the halyard, or the flag rope seen along the length of the shaft, these internally made designs provide more security and safety, hence their increasing popularity. There are several types of these internal halyard systems such as the gearless winch, the v cleat, and the cam cleat.
There is a “deluxe” type flagpole that is an internal halyard type and are made of aluminum (the shaft that is). The feature of a removable handle for the winch system is a basic plus for those who have difficulty or has concerns with the exposed halyard. Everything is already found inside the hollow but sturdy shaft for streamlined and safe design. This is ideal for neighborhoods which have concerns about vandals being able to hoist down the flag and vandal the whole setup.
These internal system flag poles are easy to mount and maintain, not to stress out enough its user friendliness in operating it. The winch system also has a self brake feature which makes hoisting the flag a bit more convenient, not needing an external or extra brake system for the halyard. Small or huge, flags of all sizes are easily hoisted or put down when needed. No more problems with protruding parts along the flag pole such as pulleys and levers, hooks, and the like.

Though considered as a permanent fixture, it does not offer the portability that some other lighter and smaller designs offer, but makes up excellently for its intended function of a fixed flag pole and a sturdy one at that.  These strong and towering structures reach up as high as 20 to 80 feet.
