Just a few weeks ago, the world bore witness to the culmination of a global spectacle that was the 2014 World Cup. Rio de Janeiro was the venue in Brazil, and people from all over the world either went there or tuned in to the global soccer event. Everyone involved in the event had their fervors high up in the clouds until the last day of competition. America had their stars and stripes, Germany had their tri color scheme, and the rest had their own nicknames to refer to their national flag. Even the United Kingdom flag is greatly seen being showcased in the audience and players. The Union Jack flag, otherwise known as the United Kingdom’s is a colorful display of vibrant colors in intercrossing lines that somehow form an asterisk.
There is a great meaning with the tri color scheme and the intercrossing lines. It mainly symbolizes the unity and allegiance of the three independent nations under one Monarchy. These countries are Scotland, Ireland, and England and Wales.

Everyone who supported the British power even in the soccer tournament had a lot of things going for them such as bearing the British flag, or perhaps wearing clothes and accessories that had a similar pattern with the Union Jack.

The audience and many of those at home had their fill of celebrating the World Cup and their team’s presence with Union Jack themed and inspired memorabilia. From patches to clothes, to actual advertising on television, the Union Jack had its fair share of the limelight.
For the world, the World Cup was a collective showcase of unity and sportsmanship. As for those who bore Union Jack design, they have it going for them and even some more.
