The Republic of Cuba is the official name of the country. The nation is situated in the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Cuba is known as the 17th largest island in the world. It has the biggest population in the whole Carribean.
There are four islands that border the main island of Cuba, namely Carnaguey, Colorados, Canarreos and Jardines de la Reina. Cuba measures about 110,860 square kilometers. The capital city is Havana. Pico Real del Turquino is the highest area on the island, with an altitude of about 2005 meters. The nation also features serene beaches and architecture dating back to the Colonial period. Tourism is booming in Cuba and continues to grow.
Cuban culture can be described as a fusion between Spanish and Latin roots. Spanish is the official language in the country, because Cuba used to be a colony of the Spanish regime. When visiting the island, you will see various Spanish buildings. Cubans also like music, songs and dances like the Bolero, Son, Cancion, Zapateo and Salsa.

The population in Cuba actually consists of a variety of Chinese, African and Caucasian. About 37 percent is white, 51 percent is mulatto or a mix of black and white and 11 percent is black. There are also people with Chinese roots in the country. Some of the religions present in the nation include Christianity, Islam, Jewish, Bahai and Protestants. Santeria is one religion in Cuba which is a fusion of Catholicism and African beliefs.
