Tuesday, May 12, 2015
When Captain Driver returned from his sea trips, he would stay in Nashville, Tennessee in 1837. Driver would present the famous flag whether he was home or in other places. The banner would be positioned on top of the streets when he is in Massachusetts. Over time, people became more familiar with Old Glory. Later on, the flag stars increased from 24 to 34, representing the first states of the Union in 1861. The Civil War happened in 1861, where Tennessee fell into the Union. William was afraid that the soldiers might find and burn Old Glory, so he had some women turn it into a pillow to protect it throughout the ordeal.
One year after, the Union took back Nashville so William presented Old Glory again at the peak of the State Capitol Spire. Many Federal Soldiers from the 6th Ohio Regiment saw the great banner. Their commander also adopted the Old Glory as their official motto.
Over the years, the flag was adopted to become the national flag of the United States. People still talk about how the flag managed to survive the decades and war.

There are more fascinating stores about Old Glory and the American Flag that surprise people everywhere. The Old Glory went through so much which is why it is given much respect whenever it is raised. Some old people still call the banner Old Glory regardless of their location. William Driver would be proud to see how the flag fared today.
