Many kids view math something as alien gibberish and fractions, well something like a flying saucer crash landing to earth. It is that daunting.
Parents would worry too much about their child’s math performance in school. They would be looking for ways how to help, read about methods best suited for their offspring to help them learn. There would be a lot of head scratching going on here.

It is time that fractions are served on a creative plate. A child may need to view math, especially fractions, as something fun to learn and not a difficulty they have to navigate through to find the rabbit hole. Teaching your child fractions can be fun when introduced in a playful way, allowing the child to experience the joy of discovery in the process. Introducing fractions in custom flags.

Teach your child fractions using personalized flags that come in various color representing the denominators and numerators in blocks of colors. Inject fun into the learning process by letting the kids come up with their own design and allow them to style it as they please. The flags are paired with fractions as a guide. All that you will be needing are a few sheets of paper or art paper , coloring materials such as poster paints or water proof paints. Old news papers would come in handy. You can use them to line the area where you will be working on to catch spills as there might be some.

To make the personalized flags, start with preparing the base. Fold a sheet of paper into 24 equal squares. The pattern should come out as six by four. Have your child fold several sheets of paper in this manner. Provide instructions to the kid for the format that you want to follow for your fractions. For example, you want the fractions be presented in a corresponding color, then have the kid paint it. It can be ½ blue and ½ red or the kid can come up with his own mix of colors for a more personalized touch. For a truly educating experience, provide feedback to the child’s output  and give praise to reinforce positive outcome.
Fractions need not be hard and tedious for your kid. Let it fun and have the child see it as a game. Teaching fractions with the use of personalized flags is not only a fun way, it is also innovative.
