Fifty-five countries all over the world commemorate Father's day on the third of June and other countries celebrate it on other days. Though it is not really a non-working holiday but it is a very special occasion in a lot of countries. Children especially make this day extra special by preparing some gifts for their fathers and throwing in some surprises to make their fathers feel very important. Some would plan a special dinner outside or watch a concert or some performances, or just about anything that they would not do on a daily basis.

Children go to great lengths to let their fathers know how special they are. Some children even hire someone to cook a special meal for their dads, put up some pennant streamers and maybe cook up some great presentations, or create a montage of their father’s favorite pictures and just about anything to make Father’s day a very unforgettable.

The celebration of Father's day started way back, around the early 1900's, when someone realized that it is not fair to have a Mother's day and honor everything that mothers do but neglecting all the fathers. Although it took a lot of years before father’s day was made an official holiday but nowadays it is not just a big celebration but it is a day that everybody looks forward to.

Business-minded people took notice of the enthusiasm that people give to this event and made it more elaborate. These days, a month or some weeks before the third of June, street banners are made more colorful and attractive to remind everybody of the upcoming big celebration. But no matter how we celebrate Father's day, let us not forget the true essence why we celebrate this event, it is to honor fathers and the unconditional love that they give to their children. Cheers to all the great dads all over the world!
