Flying a plane takes years of study and even more years of actual training. This is because air travel companies need to make sure that their customers and employees are in good hands when they send them off to fly. Otherwise, they could lose a lot of money just to replace a damaged airplane. They could lose more just by compensating the passengers and the families of their passengers. This means that they need to emphasize how important basic flying procedures are and how important the pilot’s training is. In fact, even if an experienced pilot applies for a position in an airline company, they need to pass a test that the company has.

Furthermore, the aspiring pilot has to take refresher courses as to how to fly different commercial jets and turboprop aircraft. They even have to be reintroduced to the different airport flag signals and light-stick patterns just to be sure.

Airline companies also have to make sure their customers know who to thank for a smooth ride. After all, if they take pride in their pilot’s ability to fly a plane, they might as well take the credit for imposing the strict standards on their pilots. The logo of the airline company has to be visible in order for customers to remember their flight with them. This is why they usually have their corporate flag painted on the tail rudder of their aircraft. After all, the tail rudder has always served as an identification mark for aircraft.
