Whenever Canada Remembrance Day is celebrated, there are certified events that are held specifically at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. The activities will involve several presentations, starting with the sound of the Carillon. While the Carillon is playing, several men from the Canadian Forces, Ministers of the Crown, the diplomatic unit of the state, the associate-stately assistant, the Royal Canadian Legion and unique guests will proceed. The song “O Canada” will also be played as the beautiful Canadian flag is waved by the people and official flag bearers. Similar to other formal events, other elements are also present like the gun greeting, bells and bugle. Poppies are placed over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to show respect. The Silver Cross sister also features garlands placed at the foot of the memorial to represent the mothers who sent their children off to war.

In the United States, Veterans Day is celebrated. In Canada, it is called the Remembrance Day. The special holiday is dedicated to all the soldiers who fought during World War I. It is also a special occasion for government workers. Depending on the location, the festival may be deemed as general or special holiday. In the Western part of Canada and Atlantic Canada, it is considered a general holiday. In Quebec and Ontario, it may be a detailed holiday.

It is also common practice to send different items and gifts to the men who are fighting overseas. Some of the basic things that people send include cards, custom flags, gifts, photos, pillows and stuffed toys.
