There are several meanings shown on pennant streamers that have also been present since the old times and during war. These are displayed a lot of times to inform soldiers about the safe and dangerous places during battle. Many troops would protect their banners until the very end because losing it would cause several others to be demoralized and stop fighting. The pennants have been a source of pride among soldiers for many battles. It is very important that ownership is retained in every war.

Pennants are also widely used by boats and ships because electronic communication before was still in existent  A number of other codes were also used together with the pennants although the latter proved to be highly useful in giving quick information to other passing ships and vessels. Currently, pennants are used to signal other vessels when electronic communication is down. Even when ships are not at sea, you will discover pennants beautifully flying on top of the boat.

Pennant streamers today have also transformed a lot to become national symbols or banners. The colors will sometimes be the same as the official tones of the nation. For example, you will find African pennants featuring the colors yellow, black, green and red. These are very valuable to Rastafarian because the colors represent their race and virtues.

Many schools have also used pennants to represent their sports teams. These hold a lot of deep meaning to players and usually encourage them to give their best during matches. The simple cloth has transformed much since its early beginnings ages ago.
