The United States flag holds a lot of meaning and many people continue to tell stories about its history and victorious past. The flag is a symbol of perseverance and honor. Whenever disaster or other problems plague the American people, they simply look at the flag and envision hope and prosperity. The flag can truly inspire people regardless of their background and location. It is one of the most powerful symbols in the world.
The American flag represents the heart and passion of the American people. Through the years, American leaders have shown how to overcome the odds despite trials such as World War II and the September 11 attacks. The flag also includes symbols which date back centuries from the time the first colonies were established in the country.
The US flag features a blue left upper portion which features 50 white stars. Every star symbolizes one state. There are also red and white stripes on the flag which represent the 13 first colonies which established the independence of America from British rule. The flag’s background is taught in many schools and institutions throughout the country.
Betsy Ross is known as the one who made the American flag and featured the white stars. George Washington originally wanted the stars to have six points. It was actually President Washington who showed Ross what he wanted to include on the flag, although Ross placed the final details before the official introduction.

The US flag was first raised and featured on January 1, 1776.
