When making cornhole bags, you take a duck cloth canvas then fill it with corn kernels. The game is played by throwing the bags against a board with a hole cut on it. You also have to consider other factors and make sure that the cornhole bags are of the same size, consistency and weight as the originals were when first played in the 1980s. The disadvantage with using corn filling is that the material deteriorates over time. It may be difficult to throw the bag if it is already worn out.
Focus on how the bag feels. Generally, it should feel soft, comfortable and easy to throw and play with. However, the cornhole bags will produce dust after some time which causes these to slide down the board. It will actually be easier to play with a dusty bag because it helps the bag slide down to the hole. People with allergies and respiratory problems, however, should be cautious when using these dusty bags.
There are newer versions of the cornhole bag that include plastic pellets as a substitute. These are less dusty and will last longer even when exposed to heat and moisture. You should decide whether to use traditional corn or the newer fillings. The durability of the new types is a plus but you have to pay more for these in the beginning. There are still old-school players who like to use corn fillings every time.
Regardless of the materials you are using, have fun with friends and play the game indoors and outdoors.
